An action-packed Biology lesson for our Year 10 students before half term 🔬🫀Students investigated the effect of different chemicals on the heart rate of Daphnia, using advanced practical techniques to measure changes caused by caffeine, ethanol, aspirin and iced water.
It was fantastic to see such a lovely group of students working so maturely and enthusiastically throughout the lesson, before finishing with discussions about how heart rate is controlled in humans. Excellent work, Year 10 👏

Recently, our Year 12 Chemistry students enjoyed an inspiring visit to Keele University, where they experienced university-level practical chemistry first-hand.
During the trip, students synthesised diphenylmethanol using key A Level techniques, including recrystallisation to purify their product and infrared spectroscopy to analyse their results. The experience supports students in working towards their required practical assessment criteria, while also giving them valuable insight into what studying Chemistry at university is really like.
📸 Here are a few highlights from the day!

We were thrilled to celebrate the hilarious hijinks of a young Will Shakespeare this afternoon with bestselling author and illustrator duo, Kaz Penney and Sammy Elgie. Years 3 and 4 thoroughly enjoyed Kaz and Sammy's entertaining event, which shared their love of Shakespeare plays and inspiration behind their latest book, 'Will Shakespeare Mysteries: The Stinky Stolen Toenails'. Kaz shared lots of facts about Shakespeare and Tudor history, whilst Sammy engaged children in a fun drawing challenge. Thank you to and for inspiring our students to read and to for partnering with us. We would also like to thank Merridale Primary School for joining us this afternoon.

Another remarkable milestone for former Wolverhampton Grammar School student Aaron Rai ⛳
Not only did Aaron secure an historic PGA Championship victory, he also achieved a rare statistical feat, improving his score in every single round of the tournament, something never previously recorded in PGA Championship history.
From his days as a WGS student to competing on golf’s biggest stages, Aaron continues to demonstrate the composure, consistency and determination that inspire our entire school community. Congratulations once again, from all at Wolverhampton Grammar School, Aaron. 🏆
