It’s Makaton Monday!

The campers had a great time during their overnight stay out, they sang songs around the campfire and at times, were mesmerised by the flames! They all had a restful night in the bell tents and were awoken by a resident wood pe**er! They then had a fantastic day doing a colour hunt and outdoor arts and craft! Well done base campers, that's a few things ticked off the bucket list!

We were delighted to receive an amazing donation this week from the Bilston Conservative Monday night dominoes league! They presented us with a cheque for £800, meaning the total they have raised for our school since 2017, is an whopping, £6670! We are truly grateful for their generosity and support! Thank you!

Beech class have been putting their hosting skills to practice by holding a cafe for some small groups of students. This Wednesday they made some cakes to share with their friends at the cafe and friends around school. They followed lots of different recipes including one from the 1940’s when rationing was in force. The cake is known as ‘wacky cake’ and we challenged people to think why it is called as such? Watch the video to hear the surprising ingredient used instead of egg.

The theme of this years Mental Health awareness week was ‘ Action’. We considered how to take action for others and take action for ourselves. Students from Beech and Cedar took action for themselves by reading, composing and listening to music, travelling along the walkway and taking time to look upon the joyful colours and greenery and taking deep cleansing breaths. We took time to tend and care for our precious Forget-me- nots sowed after our Forget-me- not event and took Mental Health Awareness ribbons we made in class to our friends.

Before half term, we took part in International Learn to Swim activities, focusing on water safety and important life skills.
We took part in first aid training where we learned CPR and how it can help save lives in an emergency. We explored how important it is to stay calm, act quickly, and understand what to do if someone needs urgent help.
We also practised breathing techniques by blowing bubbles and feathers to help us control our breathing in the water. We learned about water safety while canoeing, enjoyed a sensory story, completed worksheets, and took part in a range of engaging activities. We even enjoyed some relaxing foot spa activities!
A fantastic week of learning, confidence building, and water safety awareness. 💙

Base camp update! The sun has thankfully, mostly decided to shine today and the base campers have made the most of it! They are having a great time! Set up camp, built shelters and have even had a go at fire lighting! Just settling down now for supper round the camp fire and sleeping in our tents! Fingers crossed the rain stays away!

We were delighted to welcome, Sunita, Lal & Jaden to school today, in memory of their daughter & sister, and former pupil at Green Park School; Davina, who passed away last year and would have been 20 today. Davina left her mark on everyone who worked with her and cared for her. We honoured her memory with a bubble fest and some of her favourite music! They brought an amazing donation of £3000 to school with them. Thank you to Davina’s family, we are eternally grateful for their dedication and on going support of our school!

Science Day was a fantastic success this week as our students arrived dressed as scientists, astronauts, animals, and all things science‑themed. The excitement continued with a visit from the brilliant Fizz Pop Science West Midlands team, who delivered engaging, hands‑on workshops throughout the day. Our pupils explored bubbling reactions, whizzing experiments, and plenty of sensory science fun. It was wonderful to see so much curiosity, confidence, and joy as our young scientists got stuck in.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so memorable.
