We also had Beech class, as part of their work experience, making Easter treats. They worked so hard this term on their Easter Mini Enterprise. Students spoke to staff across school taking pre orders. Next they took part in food hygiene sessions and then they got really busy making! They managed to make and sell over 170 treat cones! Thanks to all the supportive staff and well done Beech Class!

This week Tulips class enjoyed a visit to the ' Golden Palace' - The Molineux (Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club) as part of their building's topic. Tulips learnt about the stadium, what happened there, some of history and went on a grand tour! They were fabulous representatives for school, they listened well and ate their lunch there too and we were very proud of them. A particular hit with the students was the media room where they had the chance to sit at the press conference desk with lights and microphones and take questions! Well done Tulips class- thank you Wolverhampton Wanderers FC!

Last week Student Council hosted our Macmillan Coffee Morning. Students prepared cakes and snacks and served drinks to our many visitors. Thank you to everyone that came along and supported the event, We raised an amazing, just over £500 to donate to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Some of our Red cluster pupils enjoyed a day out to Chasewater this week. They were accompanied by some the West Midlands Fire Service community team; working on their orienteering skills. Pupils had to navigate through different terrains and around obstacles along the way! We were treated to a pleasant surprise on our journey- we saw Deer and Cows!

As part of our mini marathon event a group of students attended Aldersley running track for a track session. We warmed up, practised staying in a lane, walked a few laps and ran 100m! We remembered to cool down and had a fab time!

Beech class have been really enjoying taking part in bike safety lessons. We have been learning how to choose the right bike and helmet for us and have had lots of fun taking part in weekly Bike Rodeos where we follow instructions, we're getting better at braking! As part of the lesson, we have also been doing some functional reading about our bikes, how fun!

We were amazed by our Gillian when she ran the London Marathon on Sunday. She did us proud and we gave her a send off in school beforehand. She completed the Marathon in 5hours 52min and has inspired us all at school by setting us Marathon related challenges. What an achievement and what an inspiration! She has run the Marathon in honour of Green Park School and all money raised will be donated to us . There's still time to show your support and sponsor her. Well done to Stowlawn Primary! A fantastic achievement!
👏👏👏 Congratulations to staff and pupils at Stowlawn Primary School, which has secured the prestigious Excellence in Pupil Development award, demonstrating that it puts the development of its children at the heart of school life.
It was presented by Optimus Education in recognition of its focus on developing its pupils' personal attributes and attitudes, such as self-confidence, resilience and self-discipline.
Stowlawn Headteacher Kate Charles said: "We believe we are the first school in Wolverhampton to gain this award, so we are very proud of this achievement. Most importantly, this award recognises the opportunities we give to our children to equip them to be happy and confident learners and ambitious for their own futures."
Councillor Chris Burden, Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Work, added: "I am delighted that Stowlawn Primary School has achieved the Excellence in Pupil Development award, demonstrating that it is not only preparing its children for the future academically, but in so many other ways too."

We were delighted earlier this week to formally and finally, open our new Reflection Area. It was officially opened by Cyril Barrett and some his former colleagues and members from the 5/344 Transport and General Workers Union Benevolent fund Branch Charity, ( ex Goodyear Workers). It was wonderful to welcome so many of our supporters who work so hard to raise funds and support our school. Stowlawn Primary School, also contributed to the project and it was great to see their pupils also enjoying the space. We hope it will provide a quiet space, to sit, be calm and reflect on those we have lost, whilst we watch nature go by. Our guests were later hosted by some of our pupils who put their functional skills to use, serving drinks and cakes they had made in our Food Tech sessions. They were such great ambassadors for our school!

Today in Orange cluster we had our first, 'Cluster Afternoon' of the New Academic Year. The pupils all took part in a range of activities including turn taking games, bucket time, small world play and enjoying the library. We all had so much fun working and playing together. We can't wait to come together again next week!

Pupils in Bluebells Class spent last week celebrating Roald Dahl day. We listened to music from the musical adaptation of Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Pupils investigated sticks left by The Twits, mixed Chocolate gloop for the Oompa Loompas and explored golden materials inspired by W***y Wonka's Golden tickets.
The pupils really enjoyed their learning activities and remained engaged throughout. Well done Bluebells!

We recently took part in Jeans for Genes UK day! We saw lots of daring double denim-ers and took part in designing our own jeans! We'll let you know how much we raised soon. Thank you!

Here are a few photos of our Rebound Therapy this morning. Rebound Therapy uses trampolines to provide therapeutic exercises to people with a wide variety of disabilities and additional needs. The therapy involves using the moving bed of the trampoline to promote movement in the participant. They all had such an amazing time, lots of smiles and giggles!

Purple cluster have been given the challenge of completing 26 laps of the walkway as part of our mini marathon training events in support of Gillian's training for the London marathon. Using the walkway develops our stamina and gets us prepared for walking in the community. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/gillian-lavan1https://l.facebook.com/l.phpu=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.justgiving.com%2Ffundraising%2FGillian-Lavan1%3Futm_campaign%3Dlc_frp_share_transaction_transactional_--_donation_received_--_nth_donation%26utm_content%3D8db93d35-c152-4de7-b785-56d2b69c9956%26utm_medium%3Demail%26utm_source%3Dpostoffice%26utm_term%3D1660288066896%26fbclid%3DIwAR3dGMnopjcRVEYek1XMEzZYctYyrp19t6Emvo20mcSD2e7GS7sPbj5Sco0&h=AT38MHpc2d2s1jPKFyY9ohJm-FQd0-uYGctrObXBYB9rxZAqcopae_A5YuB7q2xullC0pR5xto-Gdr1hZVdE7asuwGH45F47SY16subizte18KI4P3LfwvpcnK6xf1jNWvs8&__tn__=H-R&c[0]=AT3Ptm0I7CyHtLqrf0WQOtvUn3SN3_6OcClNew3g6pfPcEwDpaHvwW1H1rvJfqTXgooigz-BrYsBAlc7k5qn8q_ZxZM4LDzsTmSlwP4eRBiZHsPUy6IkROjzsp7VlnxC61jQYZrS3KOd0rSRgsYRwnAhaXi6LsTNpt3gDtoUlWZIVGuc6Vr_AoyM2IjfppOuCjLKWKpWHZCJfffKdej4

Thank you for your support https://www.gov.uk/government/news/bank-holiday-announced-for-her-majesty-queen-elizabeth-iis-state-funeral-on-monday-19-september.

Queen Elizabeth II, the UK's longest serving Monarch has passed away at the age of 96, after serving our country for 70 years. We pass on our sincere condolences to her family at this most saddest of times, from everyone at Green Park School. We will mark this historic occasion sensitively at school tomorrow with our pupils and staff. Rest in Peace HM Queen Elizabeth II. We welcome pupils and staff to wear black tomorrow to mark the national mourning of our Monarch. This is, of course, optional. God save the King! The Royal Family
Here’s the video of Roman doing his Baton section! Commonwealth Games 2022 Birmigham Wolverhampton Today

So today was a very proud moment for one of our Pupils. Roman was a baton bearer for the Commonwealth Games 2022 Birmigham! He did so well and was delighted to be part of this historic occasion. Well done Roman, you deserve to be proud of yourself! We are so proud of you! Wolverhampton Today

We're finally back on Facebook! Apologies you've not heard from us in a while, we had some technical difficulties with our school network filtering system, but we're back on track now! We have a few older posts we can share over the summer break and look forward to sharing our Good News stories again the in the New Academic Year! Have a wonderful Summer break and we will see you all again on Wednesday 7th September, when we re-open to pupils!

Gelliwig update! Wow what a great journey to Wales yesterday! We stopped in Llangollen to enjoy a picnic in the sun, fun in the park and an ice cream! Then later in the afternoon pupils used their shopping list that they made last week to get food for breakfast, snack and our picnic tomorrow. That made us very proud in the shop showing us their independent shopping skills and being friendly to fellow customers. We finished our day off with fish and chips and some more fun on the park! The pupils made good choices when making their orders and walked safely to collect their food. What a busy time time we've had already!

We waved some of our 6th form pupils off this morning and wished them a fabulous trip to Gelliwig. They got there eventually, after a lengthy pit stop for a break and some lunch! They’re all settled in and looking forward to an adventure filled visit! See you soon!

Some pupils from the Mighty Oak class spent the morning yesterday, at Jasmine Road Community Gardens, exploring the surroundings. They planted some peas and beans and look forward to seeing how they grow. Everyone loved the opportunity to learn outside of school, transferring the gardening skills we have been building in school, to use in another project.

Cedar class have been very busy over past few weeks, growing lots of different vegetables. We have been planting seeds, watering and weeding. Today we picked the lettuce we had grown and took it to the Kitchen to be served for us at dinner time. We enjoyed eating the lettuce in the salad with our lunch. Amazing to be able to grow our own healthy foods to eat!

We love sharing our achievements and good news with you, but unfortunately today, we have some sad news to share. Our new reflection area, which hasn't even opened yet, was vandalised last night. Please help us look after our school environment, we along with all schools across the city, are trying to bring enriching educational experiences to our pupil's lives , so if you know anyone who accesses our site at night, please ask them to help us look after it for the good of our pupils or even better ask them not to trespass on the site at all. We will repair the garden soon and look forward to our pupils being able to use it as a safe space for reflection, pause and remembrance. Thank you x

Jasmine class had an exciting trip to Hugglepets today. They had so much fun and really showed their maturity going off site for the first time! We got to meet three different animals up close and especially liked stroking Mabel the Rabbit, she was super soft! We can't wait to go again next week.

For the last 6 weeks a group of Pupils from sixth form, have been undertaking training from our Moving and Handling team, to become Wheelchair Buddies. This means they can now help to push the chairs of other pupils, encouraging social skills and cross-school interaction with their school peers. Our 4 students have done some great work over the last 6 weeks, looking at wheelchair safety and safe moving & handling with the chairs. They have now gained their certificates and can safely help to support fellow students around school! Well done to them, and thank you to our pupils in chairs who have been an integral part of their training!

Last week we had some new Team Members join our school - our new School Pet Rabbits!!! Clover and Crumpet are settling in well and Poppies class are doing a great job of looking after them! We're hoping the pupils will benefit from learning skills around looking after small animals and we also hope we will be able to use the rabbits for pet therapy. Welcome to the team Clover & Crumpet!

Yesterday, one of our Pupils had the honour of being a Wolverhampton Schools’ Baton Bearer for the Wolverhampton Community Games. The schools' baton is making it's way across Wolverhampton Schools, with pupils being nominated to be the bearer for each school. Roman was nominated for his dedication to sport & fitness during his time at Green Park school. The whole school supported Roman as he carried it from Green Park to Stowlawn primary. It was a special occasion that made everyone smile and feel proud and Roman said it made him feel happy! Well Done!

Remember, school is closed to pupils today, Monday 6th June, for staff training. See you all tomorrow!

Wow! What an Amazing Jubilee week we've had, celebrating this once in a lifetime occasion. We've made crowns, made flags, had afternoon tea, had an outside disco (with lots of song requests!) danced, sang & signed the National Anthem and we were all treated to a visit from the ice cream man! Thank you our wonderful staff team for all of their hard work, thank you to our amazing parents who have helped our children participate this week with baking and dressing up, and a special thank you our our Assistant Head, Heather, who planned this whole week of fun! Cedar Class had another wonderful session at Breathing Space Therapeutic Services CIC this week. Taking care of Velvet the therapy pony, going for a relaxing walk and creating some Jubilee themed nature art. Looks great!

Cedar class also took part in the Mini First Aid training last Friday.
They thoroughly enjoyed learning all about how to call for help, apply bandages, get into the recovery position, apply a cold compress and what to do if someone is choking. Fabulous life saving skills learnt with Mini First Aid Wolverhampton, South Staffordshire & Lichfield

Our Jubilee Celebrations continue tomorrow as we learn about 'All things British'. Then on Thursday 26th, you are invited to come to school dressed and Princes and Princesses- or even Kings & Queens!

Don’t forget your Red, White or Blue tomorrow!
Last week some of our Post 16 pupils were working on reinforcing their understanding of identifying safe strangers and strangers. Whilst in the park, the pupils identified two very safe strangers and asked them some good questions! Great session out in our community and it will help them with skills for life after Green Park!
