James Unett Racing
Dual purpose racehorse trainer
Operating as usual
New addition Pope Gregory has had a haircut,,and will be stepping up in work gradually. He's settled in well and we'll be looking at the 7f and mile races for him when he's ready.
King Oswald ready for a return to action at Lingfeld tomorrow, off the track for a while and will probably need the run, but good to start a belated season for him
First run for Citta d'Oro after a year off, he's had a wind op and a good break, could be interesting.
Great result with Ebqaa at Chester on Saturday
Catterick beckons for Ebqaa tomorrow, previous engagements for her have been abandoned, not drawn particularly well but I think she's well handicapped.
# Race has been run in St Moritz today and I'm proud to say Bressbee still remains the ONLY British trained horse to win the Prestigious Grosser Preis listed race. Trained by James Unett and ridden by Rob Winston.
15 yrs ago today, we travelled to St Moritz with Bressbee to win the prestigious Grosser Preis listed race on the frozen lake. Bressbee is still going strong age 20.
King Oswald just failed to live up expectations at Chelmsford last night, but a game effort none the less after blowing the start to come second, following up after his win last week at Newcastle.
No rest for the wicked as it's Kempton tomorrow night for Storm Doris and Almutamarred, both I hope should go well, but it'll be another late one, and i'm looking forward to Sunday morning already !!
Ebqaa ready to go to Newcastle for the fillies maiden next Thursday, been the target for a while, still not clipped. Taking Almutamarred for the 1m 4f hcp as well, in good order and back to the scene of his wins. Here's hoping the long trip pays off!
Great Yarmouth Racecourse return for king oswald previous course and distance winner
Smokethatthunders and his girlfriend Noneedtotellme enjoying the Shropshire holidays
Off to Bath for the lucky last great chance of following up last weeks win
King Oswald obliges well held at Yarmouth, entry for Bath could be wise 👌
Looking forward to Yarmouth weds if the rain stays away with King Oswald
King Oswald is off to Nottingham tomorrow and hopefully if the rain stays away, he will run a big race in the last and break the voodoo of lack of visits to the winners enclosure!
Big day beckons tomorrow with Stonecutter at Ripon on Ch4 and the ever reliable Smokethatthunders in the last at Doncaster.
Both seem very well and ready to go .
I was quite glad to get off Stoncutter at the end of this mornings exercise, for a big horse he's quick at trying to claim another victim!!.
The draw for both could have been kinder, that said I hope and feel both should run well for our first turf runners of the season.
We took Zebstar for an away day work out by kind permission of Tom Dascombe, despite a very early start, up at 4.45 am dept 5.30am,.... I don't think i've been up at that hour since riding work at Santa Anita or taking Clare to the hospital when her waters broke!!.
Anyway all went well including the workers when we returned.
Stonecutter will run at Newbury on Friday, going up 2f but he is a resolute galloper and i'm looking forward to seeing him run. Smokethatthunders worked very well and will go to Doncaster sat week for a 7f ladies race with the very capable Michelle Molyneux up. we will have a good look at Dream Revival in the morning before declarations for saturday, it means running her back quick but it's a weak event and being a homebred i'm very getting rid of the maiden tag.
Well there you have it, very disappointing but she's alive and well, pulled too hard for her own good. it might be a 0-60 on a Friday night at wolvs, but it's still hard to win races,we move on. Took one of the lads Adrian to the pub, and got a good kicking off him at pool,..so that just rounded the night off!!!
Just Dream Revival tomorrow here at base camp and i'd be very disappointed if she got beat. She looks mint as her summer coat has come through and is very much an improving filly, the type we like and tend tp do well with.
Stonecutter has come out of his win in good order and will probably head to Newbury next Friday
Quiet week forthcoming, we await the new marks from the handicapper tomorrow, plans will be become clearer after.
Delighted to see Stonecutters return to the fold make it a winning one after his tour of duty, lets hope he can build on this, plans are ahead and we will pick his cherries carefully.
Smokey ran a sound race as the unfancied runner of the field to come a respectable 4th, such a game horse though in the grip of the handicapper, up 3lb of his good 2nd two weeks before always holds him. Clary as usual ran a sound race despite being clipped from behind and losing a shoe and struck in to, a standard 2nd yet again but beaten by an odds on shot well ahead of the handicapper. Finally happy faces when Stonecutter came good tonight, always liked this horse, talented though delicate will hopefully give us some good days out. 2421 figures for the week, not too bad
Well a good run from the first of the weeks quartet of intended runners at this stage, Dream Revival took a gallant 2nd tonight, doubtless she will win her races...providing her trainer places her correctly!!!! We move on to Smokethatthunders at Chelmsford on Thursday
James Unett Racing
Runners this week include Dream Revival, running off her new hcp mark 58, stiff enough though she should be competitive, Wolves Tuesday pm. Smokethatthunders steps up to a mile back at Chelmsford on Thursday,up 3lb for his recent good 2nd after a 5 month break. Clary tries Lingfield for the first time on friday in a fillies hcp, in good order and runs well fresh. Stonecutter goes 2 miles at Wolves Friday pm, not exactly the Mullins masses, but enough to keep me busy.Should also get a bit of Cheltenham viewing in between...can't wait
Look out for Clary in the last at Wolvs on tuesday....she should get the Turkey paid for!!!!!
Q 10 girl comes good for Northern Line Racing
Clary goes in again!!!
Clary goes in again under a penalty at Chelmsford last night
Clary keeps the ball rolling on Monday, well done all the boys and the able pilot Natalie Hambling
Marcret comes good at his favourite venue in a £23,000 hcp
Last of the summer holidays for Heat Storm aka "Norman"
Rafaaf 2nd yet again!!! form figures now;222232, still a great ride from Michele Mullineaux and Smokethatthunders running well to come a close 4th, both at Chester, the rain we needed arrived just as we were leaving!!!
