🏊‍♀️ And they’re off! The Year 4 Swimming Gala was full of energy, excitement, and some fin-tastic performances from all our swimmers!

From the very first race, it was clear this was going to be a close one, with every house diving in and giving it their all. The cheers echoed around the pool as swimmers powered through, making waves and showing incredible determination.

❤️ Balmoral made a great splash, finishing with 37 points
💙 Buckingham weren’t far behind, swimming strong to 40 points
💛 Sandringham kept the momentum going, gliding into 48 points
💚 And making the biggest splash of all… Windsor take the win with 50 points! 🏆

A huge well done to all of our Year 4 swimmers — your effort, teamwork, and encouragement for one another truly made this event special. You all showed brilliant resilience and sportsmanship, and it was amazing to see everyone go the extra length in the pool!

What a reel-y fantastic gala… you all should be so proud!

On Friday, Year 3 and 4 welcomed Rachel Delahaye into school to deliver Spark-A-Story workshops. The sessions focused on showing pupils that everyone has imagination and that coming up with story ideas can be easier than they think.
After a short talk about how authors create stories, Rachel guided the children through fun activities where they invented characters, built storylines, and shared their own ideas. The workshop had a light-hearted and creative atmosphere, helping pupils feel more confident about their own storytelling. ✏️📚

Inspiring Futures at The Royal: Year 10 ‘Next Steps’ Event

On Tuesday 10th March, The Royal School hosted an exciting Year 10 ‘Next Steps’ Careers Event, giving pupils the opportunity to explore the many pathways available to them after the age of 16.
We were delighted to welcome a range of guest speakers from universities, colleges and industry who shared their experiences and advice with our students. Former Royal School students Dan Fletcher (Co-op) and Rohin Chagger (Crowe Accountants) returned to speak about their career journeys and the opportunities available through degree apprenticeships.
Representatives from Dudley College and King Edward VI College spoke to pupils about college life and the wide range of courses available. Students also gained valuable insights into university life from Aston University and Lancaster University, while speakers from the NHS, Endeavour Restaurants, and the Department for Work and Pensions shared information about apprenticeships and employment opportunities.
The event gave pupils a chance to ask questions, explore their options and begin thinking about their future pathways. Many students commented on how helpful the experience was:
“Today has given me a clear insight into what university is like and what they expect.”
“I realised there are many more things I can do in the future.”
“The event has given me more options and opportunities to explore.”
We would like to thank all of our visitors for giving up their time to support our students and help inspire the next stage of their journeys.
