On Wednesday 3rd July, four Year 8 students represented the school at the Black Country Geographical Association Quiz.

The rounds varied in difficulty and topics included UK landmarks, physical geography and map skills.

The students tested their knowledge against 12 other teams from schools in the local area and performed fantastically well to come 3rd in the interval quiz and 7th place overall. They were a real credit to themselves and the school. Well done!

MFL Reward Breakfast

As a department, myself and Mrs Goodlad have been really impressed with the enthusiasm year 7 to 12 have shown in French and German this year. We had the difficult task of selecting just 35 students to treat them to a French and German breakfast to congratulate them on their efforts, their participation, and their attitude to learning.
We had a fun filled hour, with such a range of foods on offer, crafts, selfies, music and plenty of flag waving. Students were presented with certificates and a small prize, and they enjoyed trying out the different foods on offer.
I would also like to personally thank all the staff who helped with the event, the students really appreciated them and enjoyed their treats. I would also like to thank Rufus for giving up his free time to help us set everything up.

Yesterday we welcomed the Wolverhampton “Olympic” Baton, which was delivered to us by Graiseley Primary School. The Baton commemorates the upcoming Olympics in Paris this summer and is currently on a journey across all schools in Wolverhampton.

After we had received the Baton, Year 10 students Zoleka Mzuku and Oscar Davis ‘cycled’ the distance to reach its next destination to hand over the Baton to Penn Hall school.

We are very excited that 2 ex Royal students Matt Richards and Tully Kearney will be competing in the Paris Olympics, we wish them the best of luck!

As we approach the end of another academic year, we bid farewell to our Year 11 students who have been an integral part of our school community.

It is a time of reflection and celebration as we acknowledge their hard work and achievements. Year 11 had their “dress for success” day which was shortly followed by their leavers assembly with funny awards, musical numbers, heartfelt messages and poems

After many photo opportunities at the front of school, the class of 2024 left the building to begin their next chapter. We wish them every success in their future endeavors, and we hope that they will take with them treasured memories of their time at The Royal School.

We wish them all the best for their impending
GCSE examinations 🎓🎉

It’s Showtime... nearly

The curtains are ready to rise on this year’s school musical, ‘The Wedding Singer’, a musical based upon the classic 90’s film starring Adam Sandler,

It’s 1985 and rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer. He’s the life of the party, until his own fiancee leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection. As luck would have it, Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever...

Tickets are on sale NOW via the school gateway

The Royal School has hosted a careers fair giving our senior school students a fantastic opportunity to talk directly to employers, apprenticeship providers, colleges and universities. We were very grateful to the 40 plus education and employment providers who supported the event to make it a huge success. All our year 8 to 12 students were able to get a first-hand encounter with the employers and education providers where they were able to ask questions and talk to our visitors to increase their knowledge of the variety of jobs, apprenticeships and university courses available to them. There were a number of local and national companies in attendance including West Midlands Police, The Royal Navy, Taylor Woodrow, Collins Aerospace, The NHS, The British Army and United Living to name but a few. There were a variety of apprenticeship providers that students spoke to including ASK and DWP.
There were a number of local universities as well as universities from further afield who took questions and shared information with students including; Staffordshire University, Cardiff University, Bangor University, Manchester University, Keele University, Lancaster University and Aston University plus many more. We also welcomed a number of local colleges into school for the event including Kind Edward VI, Dudley College, Walsall College, Halesowen College, Wolverhampton College and numerous other post 16 providers.

If you would like to support a careers event, please contact Mr Howells, [email protected]

It was go, go, go at Cannon Raceway last
Sunday as the boarders took to the track
and took part in a go-karting activity. After
a bumpy start (quite literally for some!),
they quickly got the hang off the karts and
were able to find the racing line in order to
try and gain the fastest lap time of the day.
There were two sessions on the day with
Alex winning the first session and Avery
winning the second.

For some it was their first ever experience at go-karting and we are sure it won’t be the last!

As part of Mental Health Awareness Week pupils have been working together to create colourful bracelets and phone charms which has given them the opportunity to talk about the topic of mental health with each other, and provided a great chance to share feelings. This demonstrated one of our key values, community, as students from all different year groups were working together.

We are thrilled to announce that Year 7 student Henry Cresswell made a splash during his first appearance with the Royal Academy swim team at the regional competitions last weekend.

Demonstrating remarkable skill and determination, Henry competed in the 100m and 200m backstroke events, showcasing his talent and dedication to the sport.
Henry’s performance was a testament to his hard work in training and his commitment to excellence.

His debut is just the beginning, and we are excited to see what he will achieve in the future as he continues to represent the Royal Academy with pride.

Well done, Henry!
