The after school kids have been busy
They made sensory bottles based on their personalities. So the beads were friendliness, the sequins were sporty. Stars were creativity. (Full list in pictures)
And they added however much of that material they thought represented how creative/friendly/ect they are
Then they picked which colour they’d like the water to be
It is a good way to get to know each other as before starting here some of them didn’t know each other . It brings a sense of community to the house. It’s also really lovely to hear children saying nice things about themselves and be really confident about it.

We had a brilliant first day yesterday, we were painting our faces and playing with small world toys in the morning. We talked about our feelings around changes and had fun singing and dancing to nursery rhymes.

The afterschool session was packed with imaginative play before teatime.

Cutting/slicing skills can be taught to children in a safe way. I have acrylic knives that are safe for children to use - they cut food but not skin - you can find them on Amazon. Kids love getting involved with baking and cooking, cutting their own snacks and fruit. It builds motor skills and confidence. In this picture little one wanted to make her own lunch. I asked her to pick two kinds of fruit 🍇 🍓 she then cut them into the appropriate sizes.

For music day, we’re exploring music from around the world. In this activity we danced to traditional music from various cultures, painting with feet as we danced. We talked about how the paint felt, what the music made us think or feel and about the country the music came from. A very fun activity

For world environment day I’ve set up an ocean habitat. Little one enjoyed naming the animals and placing them in the water “with their family”. We’ve talked about how important putting our rubbish in the bin and recycling can help keep the oceans clean for the animals
