Dot Tots Day Nursery

Preschool topic this term is the body! The children had fun today creating their own skeleton from tubes, and pointing out the different body parts, well done everybody this looks amazing!! 💕

Today preschool have been paleontologists, carefully retrieving dinosaur bones using paintbrushes and tweezers, examining them with the magnifiers and measuring their finds! 🦴🦕

Today, our baby room got involved in all of the Commonwealth fun, making medal biscuits!! 🏅🏅

Today we celebrated all things Commonwealth Games, by having our own ‘Dot Tots games’

👀☺️Today we received something super special and exciting for the children and staff 👑🏰💂

🇬🇧This afternoon twos room have been mark making on canvas’s for the 👑 queen’s jubilee, they used a range of different tools and created their own master pieces! 🖼🎨

Trip to the fruit and vegetable shop! 🍎🍐🌽🥕🥦

The children have recently been learning about healthy eating at nursery.

The children made a shopping list of the fruits that they needed to buy to make a fruit salad.

They all set off on a walk into the local community to the fruit and vegetable shop. 🛒

From there the children picked out their own fruit and paid the shop assistant. 🍎🍓🍍🍉🍐🥭

Once they returned to nursery, the children cut up their own fruit and added it to bowls ready to eat. 🥣

We’ve had some noisy dinosaurs in our Two’s room 🦕 🦖 following on from our fossil activity

🌻🌷🌿This week is Spring week! 🌿🌷🌻

The baby room took part in a Spring Soup activity, a water-based play with cut flowers to promote scooping and pouring, using both our fine and gross motor skills. The children spent a long time exploring the textures of the flowers and using various resources to scoop and pour the water. Later the children used some of the flowers to create their own picture using the paints and brushes.

Twos have been exploring fossils! Following on with the childrens interests and their topic of the term, the children made their own fossils out of salt dough and have been digging for fossils in the sand! The children used magnifying glasses to look closely at the fossils and used paintbrushes to brush away the sand, some children made marks in the sand and spoke about the marks they had made!

Today, our preschool children harvested our Dot Tots pumpkin patch 🎃😍 - they did so well tending to these beauties 👌🏻

Our green fingered preschool have been busy! Today, they checked on our growing pumpkins 🎃 and harvested their leeks and potatoes 🥔

💕 Today was about showing the team, that their dedication and hard work, over what has possibly been the most challenging 18months of change and adaptation of practice; is appreciated beyond words, we happily spent the afternoon chatting, eating cake 🍰 and drinking more tea 🫖 than any of us thought possible- you girls are a great team and I’m thankful for each of you! 💕

• To work alongside all members of staff to ensure that the National Childcare Standards are met.

• To assist key staff with the delivery of the nursery curriculum.

• To support children’s individual needs throughout meal times.

• To promote hygienic working practices

• To work alongside other staff to ensure children’s individual, social, emotional, physical and spiritual needs are met appropriately and effectively.

• To assist with activities appropriate for the age and development of individual children.

• To ensure all children have access to a wide variety of activities and experiences.

• To promote good working practices.

• To assist all staff with the day to day cleaning of the nursery.

• To provide a high level of supervision.

• To ensure that good levels of hygiene are maintained.

• To keep appropriate records.

• To work with families and carers.

• To as necessary provide cover for other staff members.

• To undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the Nursery Directors/ Nursery Manager

Part-time hours: 11.25 per week

Something wonderful happened last week!!!

Our ‘Very hungry caterpillars’ 🐛 emerged from their chrysalis’ and were released by our preschool children 🦋

It was wonderful to see the children participating first hand in the life cycle of a caterpillar 😍

Our Preschool have been making some very important decisions today 😁🗳

Our team have been working tirelessly to ensure we continue to provide the best care and learning opportunities for all of our children, during what is in itself a pretty scary time. I can’t express how immensely proud I am of our Dot Tots team, powering through and continuously showing their commitment, Even after our little ‘visitor’ they cleaned up and carried on! Hi five, to this absolute low life, for waking me and my family up last night @ 1:25am by breaking into our nursery and adding to an already exhausting first few weeks of 2021.

Shame on you, you pathetic human being for firstly being out during a national lockdown.

Shame on you for breaking into a Childrens nursery and adding additional pressure and anxiety to staff who are working hard during a global pandemic and are grossly under respected and valued as key workers, spending each day with children coughing and sneezing in their faces and doing it all with a smile on their face!!

Shame on you for walking so carefree through my building, a building that none of our parents have had the chance to set foot in since last June, so that we can continue ensure that we are keeping our building, children and team Covid free!!!!

Shame on you for choosing to steal an item of tech purchased for our children to use daily and causing so much damage that the repair costs, completely out way your little pocket pilferage.

Shame on you for being that stupid, that you frantically kicked a double glazed door in, to gain freedom from our foyer area of keycoded doors, when you could of easily turned the thumb screw and walked out as carefree as you walked in!!!

Shame on people like you, for wreaking havoc on people’s lives and businesses, for petty theft knowing the police will be unable to trace you and your free to cause this problem for some other unsuspecting business or individuals whenever you see fit!!!

This year, Dot Tots have decided to take part in a reverse advent calendar, asking for non perishable donations to distribute to local food banks. In addition to any parent donations Dot Tots will be adding nappies, baby formula and some sweet treats to help make Christmas special - we ask that all donations are in date and handed into the office - Thank you!!!

🎄 We didn’t want to peak too early, but twos room started to get a little festive today!! There are plenty more festive activities planned for all of our children on the run up to Christmas - keep your eyes peeled for info!!! We’re not letting Covid keep us from celebrating and getting excited 🎄🎄🎅🏼

Last week our Twos children were mark making in coloured rice, making rangoli patterns to celebrate Divali, And this week following on from that, they have took part in a colour matching activity!

The children found the colours from a bowl and matched it to the paint dot.

When they matched the colour.. SPLAT! 🎨

The children extended the activity by afterwards mixing the paints together to create new colours

Our Preschoolers have been so excited by our ‘Gruffalo’s Child’ inspired kitchen and tuff tray today!!!

This morning in twos room the children have been exploring colour mixing, using broccoli to create an autumn picture. The older children were able to create their own picture copying the patterns 🍁 🥦 🤩

We have been making the most of the grey and miserable day, by creating a wonderful glow stick sensory activity for our babies 😁👀

🦇 🧙‍♀️ Preschool are reading ‘Room on the broom’ this month - and the team have put together some spooky fun and learning opportunities 🎃 Iggety, ziggety, zaggety, ZOOM!!!!

📰 Preschool have completed their first ‘Read all about it’ topic - ask your preschoolers about Oscar the Alpaca pitch invader 😂👍🏻 - this story created wonderful learning opportunities for the children. What do you know about Alpaca’s?

So hopefully most of you, should have received the first ever addition of ‘Preschool Press’ - our team have been very conscious that as a result of our new Covid measures, the usual line of communication between key person and parents is muted! So to enable parents to be involved and see what’s been happening upstairs in our preschool room the girls developed the idea for a mini newsletter! 💕We think this is great, but we need your help too!!!!!👍🏻

Long awaited delivery received today!!! In the wake of Covid-19 and with Autumn term being notorious for sniffles, we decided to be proactive in ensuring our setting is a safe one, our antiviral fogger will be used daily to rid our rooms of any lurking nasties, ensuring you have confidence that we’re working hard to keep our/your children as safe as possible whilst in our care!!

🎶A lonely wristband on the floor - typical festival clean up!! The children had a blast, the staff had a blast and I’ll post all our pics after I’ve recovered 😂🎶 WELL DONE TEAM - same next year ⭐️

So we expected to have to ask parents, in true festival fashion to ensure children have waterproof jackets for tomorrow ☔️ instead we’re reminding parents to bring sun hats, and sandals in addition to our shorts and wellies theme as it’s going to be a warm one 😀☀️ - lots of preparations have taken place ready for a fun filled festival tomorrow 🎉
