Everyone should have a fair chance to discover who they are and what they can become. We do this by providing a broad range of services.

YMCA is the largest and oldest charity working with young people (and their communities) in the world. YMCA Black Country Group is an independent local charity, affiliated to the wider YMCA Federation in England & Wales, and the global YMCA family. Across the Black Country and border areas there are thousands of young people who need our help. We don’t just think ‘youth’ we also think ‘community’ and our work extends to include people of all ages, faiths, cultures and backgrounds.

To wrap up , we chatted with Jasmyn, one of our amazing volunteers currently working with our Youth Hub team in West Brom. She shared why volunteering is such a fulfilling way to spend your time and support a cause you love, whilst also gaining lots of skills to take on into other parts of your life.

On this day 182 years ago, George Williams, alongside 11 others, founded YMCA in London. Today, YMCA has grown to serve 65 million people across 120 countries.

6 June is a day to celebrate YMCA and all it has achieved, as well as our ongoing commitment to empowering young people and strengthening communities.

Steve & Grace completed their Founders Day Half Marathon this morning.

Started chilly and wet in Walsall, onto West Brom where they met with Laura & Manj who will be running Cardiff Half for YMCA in October.

Then 8 miles, via the Coseley cut to Wolverhampton, tough morning but a great training run!

Please consider sponsoring the team and making these soggy mornings worthwhile

This Saturday is YMCA Founders Day, marking 182 years of YMCA. Starting from humble beginnings in a small room in London to becoming the largest youth charity spanning the world, we're incredibly proud to be doing our bit in the Black Country.

So to celebrate, whilst on a break from their 6 Superhalfs Challenge, Steve & Grace thought why not throw in one more Half Marathon for good measure!

They'll be running between our YMCA Hubs across the Black Country:
9am Start at YMCA Small Street, Walsall
9.50am Arrive at YMCA Western Gateway, West Bromwich
10.15 Leave YMCA Western Gateway, West Bromwich
11.40 Finish at YMCA City Gateway, Wolverhampton

If you spot them along the route on Saturday, give them a toot of the horn or a shout to show your support! Or if you'd like to sponsor the challenge to raise £10K for youth work, you can donate on our Justgiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/ymcasuperhalfs

We're helping open up the conversation around men's mental health. Join us for an awareness workshop on 33rd June at west brom to find out about the stigma and support surrounding men's mental health.

Join us in June for Mental Health Awareness sessions, Men's Groups and wellbeing tips as part of the 'You ok, mate?'project. These sessions are focused on promoting positive mental health and wellbeing. Together, we’ll explore practical tools to help start real conversations and support one another to get men talking.

Sometimes, asking “You ok, mate?” can make all the difference. 💙
