Year 11 are striving for more at Dearne Valley!

Day one of their PGL residential struck the perfect balance - focused Maths and English sessions to keep their learning on track, followed by the thrill of Archery Tag and a silent disco to bring the year group together. It is this mix of intensive study time and shared team experiences that makes these trips so valuable, building confidence, resilience and friendships alongside the curriculum. A brilliant start, with more to come this week.

What does WONDER mean to you? ✨ To celebrate National Poetry Day on Thursday 1st October, we're launching a whole-school poetry competition inviting every pupil to write a poem inspired by the theme of Wonder. To kick things off, one of our own staff has written an example poem to spark some inspiration, take a look and get those creative minds thinking. We can't wait to read what Wonder means to our Moreton community.

Our Year 11 students are off to a flying start with their Spoken Language assessments this week.

Students have been showing real resilience and creativity as they perform their speeches for their peers, tackling topics including the rise of AI, the social media ban, the problems with advertising and the importance of space exploration.

The English team are so proud of the hard work students have put in and can't wait to hear what the rest of the year group has to say. Well done, Year 11!

🌟 House Breakfasts are underway at Moreton School! 🌟

This week, our students have come together during form time to enjoy breakfast, strengthen house identity and build meaningful connections across our school community.

These shared experiences are about more than just the most important meal of the day. They provide valuable opportunities for students to feel a genuine sense of belonging, celebrate their house pride and start the day in a positive, supportive and inclusive environment.

From Oscar Wilde to Ruth Ginsburg, Mary Seacole and Edmund Hillary, our house system continues to inspire students to reflect the values of ambition, respect, resilience and excellence in all that they do.

A fantastic start to the morning and another example of our commitment to creating a harmonious school culture where every student feels valued, connected and ready to learn.

Oscar Wilde House are raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support , and there are cakes involved. 🎂

This Friday (25th September), during break and lunch, staff and students will be able to pick up a cookie, cupcake, brownie, traybake, or a slice of cake, all for just 50p or £1.

Every penny raised goes directly to Macmillan Cancer Support to help people living with cancer and their families. A simple gesture with a meaningful impact.

Well done to Oscar Wilde House for organising this, a brilliant example of our community coming together for something that really matters. Together, we can make a difference.
