Last night we ditched the mud & donned our glad rags to celebrate the National Trusts first ever forest garden, Arcadia. Located at Sugborough Hall, Arcadia demonstrates how you can create a low maintenance self sustaining edible ecosystem, not only on a large scale, but also on a small scale in your own garden. We are delighted to have been able to help fund this inspiring project through DEFRA's Trees for Climate grant. Well done to head gardener Caroline and her team for creating such a beautiful space & hosting on an extremely hot evening. Arcadia will be open to the public this autumn & we think it's well worth a visit.

Forest of Mercia staff & volunteers recently planted a commemorative tree at Hilton Green outdoor education centre.
It is to celebrate the planting of 10 million trees across England as part of DEFRA’s Trees for climate programme.
We chose a Gingko tree, a living fossil from the time of the dinosaurs. As it demonstrates great resilience to climate change.

The planting was part of a national celebration marking a major milestone for England’s Community Forests network: planting 10 million trees across England through its Trees for Climate programme. The landmark figure highlights the scale and pace of tree planting delivered by the network of 15 England's Community Forests, improving places where people live, supporting local economies, and tackling the impacts of the climate emergency head on.
If you would like us to consider funding tree planting on your land or are interested in joining our volunteer group, please contact us at [email protected]

A lovely morning at Sytch Lane cemetery using the first of this seasons willow harvest, bringing the community together to make Easter wreaths. Thank you to South Staffordshire Council bereavement services for having us.
