Happy World Smile Day from everyone at Little Oaks! 😄🌈

A smile, a kind word or a helping hand can brighten someone’s day. Today we’re celebrating the little moments of kindness that make our nurseries such happy places.

It’s also a lovely reminder to care for those little smiles: brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, including last thing at night. Use a smear for children under three and a pea-sized amount for ages three to six. After brushing, encourage children to spit, rather than rinse. 🪥

🔢 Maths was everywhere at our Bushbury Stay & Play! 💙

Thank you to all the parents and carers who joined us on Monday. It was lovely to see you exploring alongside the children and sharing in their excitement.

The children loved getting hands-on with the activities. They spotted and recognised numbers, counted objects, explored shapes and sizes, and used their imagination as they built and played. There were so many opportunities to talk together, try out ideas and discover something new.

Maths in the early years is about much more than saying numbers in order. When children sort, compare, build and notice patterns through play, they’re developing skills and confidence in a way that feels natural and fun.

Thank you for making the morning so special. We loved welcoming you into Bushbury and seeing the children proudly share their play with you! 🌈

A little update from Little Oaks 🌱

From October, we won’t be showing children’s faces on our social media pages.

We love sharing glimpses of nursery life, but we also believe children should have a choice about their online presence. This change helps protect their privacy as they grow.

You’ll still see the creativity, learning and lovely little moments happening across our settings — just shared in ways that keep children’s faces private.

☕💚 What a lovely morning at Little Oaks Penn!

Thank you to all the parents who stopped for a coffee and a chat at drop-off on Friday. It was so nice to spend a little time together and start the day with our Penn families.

We also received a message from a parent saying the coffee morning was “very much appreciated” and that our team makes them “happy as parents”. Those words meant so much to us. 🥹

A big thank you to our team for making everyone feel welcome. We’re already looking forward to the next one! 🌿

🌿 Celebrating Sukkot 🌿

Sukkot is a Jewish festival celebrated this year from 26th September until 2nd October. It is a special time of harvest, gratitude and togetherness.

During Sukkot, many Jewish families build a temporary outdoor shelter called a sukkah. These shelters are often decorated with fruit, leaves, branches and other natural materials. Families and friends may gather inside to share meals and spend time together.

At Little Oaks, learning about celebrations such as Sukkot helps our children discover different cultures, beliefs and traditions. We will explore themes of nature, harvest, sharing and togetherness while encouraging kindness, curiosity and respect for others.

🌕🏮 Celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival 🏮🌕

The Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated by Chinese and Vietnamese communities, as well as across many East and Southeast Asian cultures.

It is a special time when families and friends come together beneath the full moon, light colourful lanterns and share delicious food. Some families enjoy traditional treats such as mooncakes while spending time with the people they love.

At Little Oaks, celebrations like this help our children discover the wonderful cultures and traditions within our wider community. Through stories, lanterns, the moon and sharing together, we can encourage curiosity, friendship, kindness and respect.

We are incredibly proud to share the highlights from our recent Ofsted inspection at Little Oaks Wolverhampton! 🥰

The report recognised our provision as achieving a Strong Standard for both Inclusion and Leadership and Governance, with our safeguarding standards also confirmed as met.

The inspector highlighted that children experience a warm, nurturing and inclusive environment”where they feel safe, valued and confident. The report also recognised:

🌿 Children’s individual needs are identified and supported from the earliest opportunity
🩷 Our leaders are dedicated and passionate
🌿 Staff feel wholly supported and their wellbeing is prioritised
