This morning we have been celebrating St. Davids Day with the children by making Welsh flags and painting daffodils. We have listened to their national anthem and joined in waving our flags. We have also celebrated Pancake day by having pancake races and eating pancakes for snack. We tried different toppings on our pancakes such as banana, syrup and lemon juice/sugar. This made great conversation between the children talking about different flavours. We would love to know what toppings you have on your pancakes at home?
This morning we have been looking at our teeth! The children have made their own toothbrushes for roleplay and all took turns in having a go at brushing the teeth.
We read 'Alans big scary teeth' at circle time and sang our cleaning teeth song. We have spoke about the importance of brushing our teeth every morning and every night and eating the correct foods to keep our teeth healthy 🦷

This morning we have had to let our beautiful butterflies go as it was time for them to find their new homes. We would love you to show the children the video and will be talking about the butterflies all next week with the children 🦋🦋🌺
Our butterflies have today started leaving their chrysalis and stretching their wings. You might wonder about the small red spots you see on the sides or on the floor of the habitat after the butterflies have emerged from their chrysalides.
This red liquid is called meconium and is a normal part of the process.
They are enjoying some flowers and sugar water and will get stronger before the children release them at nursery. 🐛🦋🌺
Unfortunately we have had a child test positive for Covid this morning so we will have to close and self isolate for 10 days from Wednesday. We will be back open on Monday 5th July. If your child has been in this week they will need to self isolate until Saturday 3rd July. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. If during this time your child develops symptoms please get them tested and if they test positive let us know as soon as possible as we need to inform the local health authority.
Our caterpillars have now transformed into the chrysalis stage where they will remain until they emerge as beautiful butterflies! 🦋🦋🦋
Our caterpillars are getting ready to go into chrysalis!!
Jackie was a member of staff here at Aldersley Church Early Learning and some of you may know that our beloved Jackie passed away quite suddenly a couple of years ago. She put so much work and dedication into the setting, she was loved by all the staff, children and families and in her honour we have made Jackie's house in the garden for all the children to enjoy. Her favourite colour was red and she always enjoyed the role play area so we have designed the house to reflect her. Due to Covid it has taken us longer to put the final touches together but we are very pleased with it and the children are really enjoying the new space in the garden, taking extra care to pack it away at the end of the day. We hope they can enjoy the house for a long time to come.
ACEL Team ❤️
This term we are focusing on the very hungry caterpillar and now have 47 caterpillars in the nursery that we will be looking at every week for changes.🐛 🐛 🐛 🦋
We have had a lovely morning outside in the garden. We put our sun cream on and sun hats and have enjoyed playing in the sand, drawing in the shade and plenty of waterplay!
(Could we please remind parents to bring sunhats and suncream that they are happy to leave here)
Our preschoolers enjoyed writing their own story after our focus this week has been based around the book 'Puff the magic dragon'
The children had very little help from staff, and we love this short story.
Theyve helped paint a dragon for our display, junk modeled a castle in small groups and also made some Princesses and Knights.
Once upon a time there was a rainbow dragon, his name was Narnar.
Narnar was very scared of chairs.
Narnar went to the shop to buy some oreos, pringles and a magazine.
He walked home and ate all the food he had bought, read the magazine and then fell asleep in his bed.
Narnar woke up, breathed hot fire and fell back to sleep.
We have had a lovely term with the children making lots of crafts and playing with a lot of messy play. The children have really enjoyed talking about Spring and they were very excited about the Easter bunny 🐰 coming! We have tried hot cross buns from the nursery bakery and counting the eggs and chicks in the sensory tray.
We would like to wish you all a lovely Easter break and look forward to seeing you all back April 19th. If you are having any covid tests or showing symptoms could you please let us know as soon as possible 🐰🐣🥚
Thank you for your continued support!
Due to unforeseen circumstances the nursery will not be open tomorrow, Friday 26th March. We hope to be open Monday as normal but if there is any change please check your tapestry accounts
