We've been reading our new book 'Ice cream for everyone - lifes fun with variety' discussing how boring the world would be if we were all the same. The children have enjoyed talking about all the different pages and their favourite colours, favourite ice cream etc, and most importantly how we are all different! We've also had lots of messy, fun ice cream themed play ✨️

Some photos of us releasing our butterflies this morning. Some of the children wanted to hold them and loved looking at them closely. We could see their colours/patterns and some of the children commented on how fluffy they were.

An amber weather warning has been issued in our region for this week by the met office.
We would like to reassure parents/carers that nursery will be open as normal for morning sessions, and we will close at 12pm on Wednesday the 24th and Thursday 25th.
All staff will be making sure the children stay hydrated, and as cool as possible. Please send your children in loose, light clothing, and also a change of clothes for after water play as we will have lots of this out during the day.
To reassure you -
☆We will be keeping the children indoors during peak hours
☆Applying suncream and sun hats
☆Waterplay
☆Spending time indoors and in the shade where possible
☆Ensuring the children stay hydrated with plenty of fluids (please send your child in with a refillable cup)

We will monitor the situation and keep a close eye on the children in our care. Children cannot control their body temperature as efficiently as adults during hot weather so can be at risk of ill health from the heat. We may ask you to collect your child if they develop signs of heat stroke or heat stress.

Please inform us if you choose to keep your child at home so we can mark their absence.
