I have been able to fill my tutoring schedule for 2026-7 simply through word of mouth and after only 18 months of being up and running. As GoDaddy were charging silly money for their mediocre website marketing services I have taken down my website for the time being (after migrating the domain to Porkbun). When I have a moment I will sort out building a new one, but the fact is that it is not a priority.
To find out more information about Upward Maths Tutoring feel free to text me, ideally via WhatsApp, on 07762 239390.
In the meantime I will occasionally post on this FB page regarding progress with my students or feedback from parents, but my main focus is going to be on effectively tutoring the 18 students currently on my books and progressing with my own studies of degree level mathematics.
All the best,
Cat Ward
PS I'm adopting a puppy from Birmingham Dogs Home - Wolverhampton Centre in a few weeks time as well so I'll have my hands full looking after Diglet as well!!!

Well that's my first full academic year of tutoring completed (I started in January 2025) and am delighted to be in the position that my schedule for September 2026 is already full before the summer break has even started. π
It's been a great year watching my students gradually improve their skills and grow in confidence, which has been reflected in their school reports and assessment results. Thank you to the parents who have taken the time to write some lovely 5* reviews for me. π
I have availability in August for anyone who'd like some 'booster' sessions ahead of the new school year and parents are welcome to add themselves to a waiting list for a slot on my schedule in May/June next year when half a dozen students will finish their Maths GCSE and A-level exams.
Have a lovely summer everyone!

This guy got a D in his A-level maths, which goes to show that although high attainment can undoubtedly make a difference with what you achieve in life it doesn't mean to say that you can't be successful if you miss the grade...

Whether it's textbooks, fiction or non-fiction this is a great place to find books to add to your shelf. ππππππππππππ
I've picked up some great mathematics interest ones in the past in addition to revision guides and the like.
There's also DVDs, CDs, comics, maps, post cards and more...

Cute idea!
Upward Maths Tutoring supported Birmingham Dogs Home - Wolverhampton Centre last year by donating Β£250 to buy one of the new orthopedic beds they needed for the dogs to rest comfortably in their kennels.

This student has gone from "I'm rubbish at maths and I'll never be any good at it" (partly because of general self-esteem issues) leading to poor assessment scores, to being 'one of the top results in the class' for the mid-year report, progressing to 'in the top 5' at the end of the year! This is a super position to be in after one year of working with me, providing a wonderful springboard before starting at Higher Level maths in Y10.
It's especially great to see this as the student forgot to mention that there was an end-of-year assessment coming up so I hadn't been shown a revision topic list!
That said, this was not a problem because something I try to do with the majority of my sessions is constantly dip into a range of topics across the subject so that there's regular recall. I also use resources like Corbett Maths 5-a-day as the questions will be a random assortment, just like they are in exams!
This helps to improve recognition of problem types to get used to working out strategies and methods to apply.

Didn't know that World Tutors: Day even existed! π
Happy World Tutors' Day! π
Today is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate tutors everywhere who give their time, knowledge and patience to help others learn and grow.
For me, tutoring has never just been about improving grades. It's about building confidence, reducing anxiety, helping learners discover what they can do, and creating a safe space where mistakes are part of learning.
Every learner's journey is different. Some need support to catch up, some need to be challenged, and others simply need someone who believes in them until they begin to believe in themselves.
I feel incredibly fortunate to work with so many amazing children, young people and adults, as well as their families. Thank you for trusting me to be part of your journey. Watching confidence grow and seeing those lightbulb moments never gets old.
To all the tutors making a difference every single dayβthank you. Your work matters more than you may ever realise.
Happy World Tutors' Day! β€οΈπ

What a fun idea! These pooches need to be 'coming home' too - to a new forever home! π
It's coming home... or should we say, it's coming to the kennels! πΎβ½
With the World Cup in full swing, we thought it was only right to announce our own England Dog 11 for the World Pup!
We have scouted far and wide (mostly around the kennels) to bring you the ultimate starting line up, ready to chase, fetch and steal the show on and off the pitch.
Take a look at our squad and let us know who you think will be player of the match! π
The world squad drops at 4:30pm... who do you think made the cut? π
