π₯³ Families can enjoy a summer packed with free activities, entertainment and opportunities to meet local representatives at a series of Love Your Community fun days taking place across the city.
They will be held on Wednesdays 29 July at Dunstall Community Centre, 5 August at Big Venture Centre, 12 August at Ettingshall Memorial Hall, and 19 August at East Park Methodist Church, with an eco-themed event taking place at St Chadβs Play Space on Wednesday (22 July).
Partners including the council, community organisations and charities, the police and other service providers will be on hand to provide a range of activities for people of all ages, including a bouncy castle, face painting, sports and games, arts and crafts, and gardening, as well as advice and support stalls.
Councillor Obaida Ahmed, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Community, said: "We first held these Love Your Community fun days last summer and they proved hugely successful. This year's events will once again include a wide range of activities and information, so I'd encourage residents of all ages to come along, get involved and make the most of what's on offer."

To all the parents - today is the last day your Y6 children will walk through the gates of Long Knowle Primary School. They are now leaving us and getting ready to start their secondary schools in September. They have all been amazing and everyone here wishes them well as they start their new chapter. Keep shining! ππππ A poem for one last day: They walked through those school gates so small, With shiny shoes and bags so tall. But blink, and those few years have flown, Look how much theyβve learned and grown. No longer tots, but nearly teens, With bigger hopes and newer dreams. So take a breath and hold them near, A brand new chapter starts right here. They leave the playground, safe and sound, Where all their early friends were found. Youβve watched them read, youβve watched them play, And guided them along the way. Now secondary waits, a grand new start, They'll always keep you in their heart. Be proud of all theyβve come to be, And step with them into history.
