Today we have been celebrating World Book Day. The best part was dressing up! We started our day with a story session and then writing our own stories to make story books. We have entered into many competitions and are now keeping our fingers crossed.

Reading has been GREAT FUN today.

School Closure – Friday 9th January 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been recommended by the Wolverhampton Local Authority to consider closing school due to the forecast of heavy snow overnight, on the grounds of protecting the health, safety and wellbeing of the school community. In line with this recommendation, Woden Primary School will be closed to all pupils on Friday 9th January 2026.

Staff will be posting learning activities on Class Dojo, so please keep an eye on your messages and the class pages for updates.

Everyone had a wonderful time singing Christmas Carols. Well and truly in the festive spirit.

In school we ran a competition to design a poster to promote our school rules. Ready, Respectful and Safe.

We would like to congratulate Miren and Declan who won our competition. Their original design has then been turned into a digital version that will be displayed around school.

Woden certainly has got talent! Over the past few weeks, children have been auditioning for a chance to shine on stage — and on Friday, the final show absolutely blew us away! 🌟

With over 40 incredible acts, we were treated to a dazzling display of talent including singing, dancing, cheerleading, comedy, music, football skills, and so much more.

We were so impressed by the confidence, creativity and courage shown by every single performer. It truly was a special event and a wonderful celebration of our pupils’ talents. 🎉👏

📚⚽ Author Visit at Woden Primary! ⚽📚

We were thrilled to welcome best-selling author Dan Freedman to Woden Primary! Dan shared his journey from a football fan to working as a journalist for the England Team at two World Cups – and how that passion led him to become the author of the Jamie Johnson series, now a hit TV show on CBBC! 📺📖

Our pupils were truly inspired by Dan’s message about chasing your dreams and never letting anyone hold you back. 💫 The afternoon ended with a fantastic Q&A session, and a Premier League football signed by Dan was awarded for the most thought-provoking question. 🏆⚽

A huge thank you to Dan for an unforgettable visit – we’re still buzzing with inspiration! 🙌

🇫🇷 French Day at Woden! 🇫🇷

On Wednesday 25th June, we celebrated French Day—our Primary Language at Woden—with a fun-filled day of language, culture and creativity!

We welcomed the French teacher and students from Heath Park, who led exciting games in each class to help children learn French in fun, interactive ways. Years 3 and 4 also enjoyed a brilliant storytelling session of Goldilocks and The Three Little Pigs—entirely in French!

Each year group built their own Eiffel Tower using materials like clay, straws, and matchsticks, while the kitchen served up delicious French food for lunch.
