Staff and students from St Edmund’s Catholic Academy took part in the 5K Pretty Muddy Race for Life Event on 9th May, to raise funds and awareness for cancer research.
The event was even more important as the team were running in honour of our incredible Head of Sixth Form, Hardi Toor, who is bravely battling breast cancer. Hardi’s strength, positivity and spirit inspire us every single day.
Every splash, slip and step brought the team closer to making a difference in the fight against cancer. The Team raised an amazing £2,128 and would like to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated and to those who cheered from the sidelines.

After a productive first season in the league, the St Edmund's Sixth Form and Year 11 football team performed well across most of their fixtures, securing a win against the Grammar school to start their season off well and a close draw against Heath Park away from home.
Later on in the season we fell short in a 9-8 penalty shootout to St Peter's in the semi final of the cup. Nonetheless, as a school we are very proud of all of the boys who partook in the team this year and we are hoping that we can continue in this light and improve further for next year! Well done boys! ⚽

🌟 Y12 Work Experience Week Recap (2nd March - 6th March) 🌟
Last week, our Year 12 students had an incredible opportunity to gain valuable experience across a range of industries! From audiologists to primary schools, and even a funeral parlour, our students explored diverse fields and developed essential skills for their future careers.
Special thanks to all of the employers for their support and for providing our students with these amazing opportunities.
Work experience plays such a vital role in shaping students' futures. It offers real-world insights, helps develop key skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, and gives them a deeper understanding of the professional world.
Brian (Smart-Tec-Solutions):
I enjoyed my placement and the insight it gave me into this field. The opportunity to listen and learn from current employees furthered my understanding on how to progress into this career.
Gold (NHS - Midwifery):
I learnt how to listen to babies heartbeats, the processes involved in the range of departments and really enjoyed learning about the different aspects and roles within midwifery.
Sophie (COOP Funeral - Funeral Service Assistant):
Working as an FSA was englightening and I found the week rewarding being able to support families during such a difficult time. The week solidified that being an FSA is the career path I would like to follow.
Imogen (Audiologist - The Hearing Care Partnership):
I enjoyed learning about the ears and how the right care can improve people's hearing. It was interesting to learn how much people miss because they can't hear. I'm hoping to complete a degree apprenticeship in this field so this week was really valuable.
We are so proud of our students for stepping out of their comfort zones, learning new skills, and growing professionally. 🌱
Thank you again to all the employers who made this possible – your support truly makes a difference!
Yesterday, Year 13 student Letty joined Wolverhampton Music Service with the Symphany Orchestra at Wolverhampton Civic Hall for the annual Schools Concert. It was the perfect finale for Letty's last time participating in the concert!
Letty also played alongside a West End star for "Defying Gravity".
"It’s been amazing being able to do it every year, and this year was especially special as it’s our last. We definitely made it our best one yet!" — Letty
