In February
We covered 5 little Ducks, Row Row Row your Boat, Incy Wincy Spider and the Wheel’s on the Bus this month.
Using feathers, tissue paper and felt we made ducks and used these items to feel in sensory trays. Water play was on offer, and we had ducks and nets to play with in there. We had yellow play dough and cut duck shapes out. Lots of number work was done this week and we concentrated on numbers 1 to 5. We played with fishing games using magnetic rods to catch the ducks.
Pirate boats were made using paper, card, pirate stickers and lollipop sticks. We talked about floating and sinking and used a variety of size boats in the water trough. Lots of small world play was done with the pirate boats and pirates and we used planks outside to balance on.
Using paint and glitter we made web pictures. Outside we had wet and dry sand with spiders in and used drainpipes for the spiders to climb up. We made spiders using finger paint and coloured spider shapes in. We talked about the weather and coloured sunshine and rainy pictures in.
We did junk modelling and made buses using boxes and paper plates, glue and paint. Buses were used to make tracks through the paint and print onto paper. The car mats were out with all the buses to play with and the garage.
Books and stories have accompanied the theme, and these are out weekly for the children to access and use.
Our outside area has been transformed into a garage, a boat, and a pond to accompany this month’s songs.
During this half term we have also celebrated Valentines and one of my children’s birthdays, having a party at my house to celebrate.
Thanks for reading and please keep tuning in as we have some more exciting things to come ….
Also, some new facilities are being added to our outside area please keep a look out photographs and information to follow.
See you all soon Jayne x

A New Year brought us a new theme- Songs
In January
We covered the songs- Hickory, Dickory Dock, Twinkle, Twinkle, Baa Baa Black Sheep and Humpty Dumpty
We made clocks and talked about numbers and use the hands to turn round to certain numbers. Lots of positional language was used especially up and down and we did lots of actions to support this. We made mice with CD’s and stuck on eyes and whiskers on them and used them as a mobile to hang up.
We made salt dough and cut out star shapes which we dried out and painted. We made biscuits cutting out as stars and icing them and putting magic stars on them. We made magic wands with glitter stars on and did lots of imaginative play using them, making up spells.
We made sheep with lots of different collage pieces including curled paper, wool and cotton wool. A range of graphics was on offer to colour sheep in e.g., pens, pencils, chalks and paint sticks. Lots of number jigsaws were out to play with and we concentrated on numbers 1,2 and 3.
We made Humpty Dumpty jigsaws cutting up the pictures into pieces and sticking them back together. We boiled eggs and tried boiled eggs and soldiers for our lunches. We played with eggs and egg cups in the sand using spoons o play with. We used eggs to cook with making cakes and decorating with egg sweets.
We have concentrated on learning all our songs and have made a singing bag with props in to go with each song.

Hi welcome back. Sorry it’s been a while, but we have been so busy playing it’s hard to stop!
In December
We continued with our shapes and colours covering diamonds, stars and gold and silver and of course Christmas!!
We made diamond tiaras and did lots of dressing up using lots of mirrors to look at ourselves. We made diamond biscuits and decorated them with diamond sweets.
Star shapes were cut out and we used pasta shapes to stick on and sprayed with gold spray paint. Silver foil was used to paint on and make pictures and we also used it to collage pictures.
We made kites and flew them outside and had a windy day walk.
We made a Christmas cake mixing all the ingredients and tasting them. Using rolling pins, we decorated with marzipan and icing and used diamond decorations to stick on them. Photographs were taken in our Christmas dressing up clothes. We made Christmas cards and used our writing skills to write in them. Christmas colouring pictures were done and we made a colouring book to take home, Lots of Christmas activities were done and we took these home to show all our delights to our families.
We went to out toddler group Xmas parties and saw Father Xmas and played party games. It was nice spending our Christmas with our friends, and we also took part in raising money for charity doing the shoe box appeal and collecting items for children who do not receive a Christmas present.
Hi just to let you know I have two part time placements for September 2022 for babies/toddlers due to my current children moving to School. Please contact me if you would like to meet me or visit. Thankyou Jayne x

Welcome back! We’ve had a really fun and busy term so far, here’s some of the things we’ve been up to…
In September we learnt lots about shapes. Lots of art and crafts including printing cotton reels onto circle shapes, making triangle paper hats, painting big square boxes and played with ice cubes. We also played with lots of play dough, cutting different shapes. This term we have done lots of cooking too, we made jam tarts, decorated round pizzas, made square chocolate crispy cakes and did lots of work rolling and cutting the ingredients.
In October, we did lots of learning about colours. We played with pink and purple sand, we collected leaves from the garden and used these to print our brown and green paintings to create an Autumn picture. We also made blue teddy bear pictures and worked with different coloured blue foil paintings. We made black spiders and got some big orange pumpkin for Halloween and made lanterns. We even tasted some of the pumpkin.
In November we developed our learning further, collected apples and made our own bonfire apples covered in chocolate and sweets. This was a great sensory activity which we all enjoyed, especially the tasting! To celebrate bonfire night, we used the tuff tray and played with ripped up newspaper, wooden sticks. We enjoyed dressing up with the fancy dress clothes and learnings about warm clothes to wear in winter. We made red and yellow bonfire pictures too. There has been a variety of toys outside to relate to the colours we have been focussing on week by week.
This term we have been able to safely return to local play and stay sessions and library story times. The children have really enjoyed mixing with other children and developing their social skills. We have all joined the library and enjoyed choosing books every week to take home and read with our parents. The children loved listening to short stories and making crafts at the library. The children take it in turns to walk to these sessions with myself, which promotes their gross motor skills.
Keep your eyes peeled for the next update in a few weeks time…

Hi welcome back. We have been learning about flowers this week at Jayne's house.
We have explored Jayne's garden and looked at her lovely flowers and smelt and touched these. We picked some flowers to look at the petals. We helped water them with watering cans and counted the pots in the garden.
Jayne had some sunflowers in a vase and we held these and touched the petals. We then painted our own sunflowers making a black centre(painting a paper plate) and hand printed yellow petals to go all around it. These were put onto paper straws to make the stem.
With flower materials we collaged paper plates and flower cut outs. The flowers were then stuck onto paper straws and put in a pot to make our pretend flower pots. With the flowers we had collected from the garden we pulled the petals off and stuck onto sticky back plastic to make suncatchers.
Threading activities were on offer this week and we used reinforced laces to thread cotton reels, beads and plastic shapes onto them. We also sorted into colour and shape categories.
Lots of books about gardens and flowers were available to look at and we had some scented books which we could smell the flowers in. Catalogues from the local garden centre were used to snip with our scissors with to practice our cutting skills.
What a busy week! More to come next week....

Welcome back!! We have been busy at Jayne’s again! Lots of fun filled activities based on our theme "growing".
We talked about growing ourselves and looked at pictures of babies, children and adults. Using our tape measure, we measured ourselves to see who was the biggest and smallest. We looked at books about babies.
Our story this week was Jack and the Beanstalk. We listened to the story and planted our own beans in jars and watered them. With stickers we decorated the jars and took these home to see if we could grow our own beanstalks. Using crayons and pens we made Jack’s.
In Jayne’s garden we did lots of watering with watering cans and played with soil in the tuff tray filling and emptying plant pots using trowels. We planted an anemone bulb in our pots to take home and look after. Lots of jobs were done in the garden this week including sweeping, collecting leaves, weeding and helping to cut the grass.
We played in the home corner this week and made food and drinks to eat. We used the pretend food to feed the dolls and made our Café to make food to order. Outside we made a barbecue with sticks and stones on the tuff tray and used our imagination to cook things on here.
We mosaiced our plant pots using material, paper and glue and they were a gift for our Mums to keep our bulbs in.
Using chalks, we coloured in planting pictures and used different colours papers and chalks. Outside we used the chalks on the concrete path and enjoyed colouring the slabs in.
Thank you for listening about our week.

Hello and thank you for taking he time to catch up on our week at Jayne’s. Our theme this week was “Birds”.
We looked around Jayne’s garden at the birds especially in the big trees at the bottom. We listened to the noises they made and imitated them. We collected feathers and sticks to make pretend nests. Outside we played birds pretending to be them and we also made some of the movements they would do. In the tuff tray we played with the sticks and feathers.
Our stories this week were- a busy day for birds and that’s not my owl. We learnt two songs – two little dicky birds and 5 little ducks using the knitted toys to imitate the actions with.
We made nests after playing with the feathers, sticking them on with glue and colouring in different birds to put in our nest. We had sensory trays of feathers, sticks and mud to use our hands to touch in. In cooking we made birds nests with rice crispies and chocolates and then filled them with chocolate eggs. We tasted the ingredients and helped weigh and mix up.
Lots of jigsaws were out this week, we worked together to do floor jigsaws, and had a range of levels of jigsaws out to practice our hand eye co-ordination. Playdough was out to use our hands with and we made birds with it sticking feathers in and eyes and a beak on.
See you next week……
