A new course led by Adult Education will be commencing after half term. Unfortunately this is only available to parents of pupils at the school but is an excellent, and free, opportunity for those who are hoping to learn more about life in the UK.

Our school choir had a fantastic afternoon out at the Halls in the city centre this week. The Music School put on an incredible show and we were able to sing along to the songs we had been rehearsing for weeks. It was an unforgettable experience for all!

Please find attached information about art workshops taking place at the Family Hubs in Wolverhampton. They are Artist Led and all parents who attend at least 60% of the workshops receive a £50 ‘Enjoy Wolverhampton Voucher’ as a thank you. If parents have children, they can bring them along and child friendly activities will be provided! Each session will take place EVERY Tuesday from 10am – 11:30am. Pupils across the whole school loved watching the chicks hatch and grow. Year 1/2 absolutely loved holding them last week. The children were sad to say goodbye to them on Friday as they returned home ready to be placed on farms and small holdings!

We are taking part in the Big Battery Hunt up until June 12th. As a school we are collecting old batteries (AA, AAA, C and D) which can be placed in a box in the school reception - there are big prizes for schools who collect the most per pupil!!

Dovecotes have some very exciting visitors at school for the next fortnight! We had a delivery of eggs on Monday that started to hatch today in their incubator! The children have observed three hatching today which was very exciting and we can't wait to see how many more have hatched over night in the morning!

Year 3/4 had the best time at Dunfield House last week. Campfires, archery, swimming, disco dancing, orienteering and visits to the small breeds farm and Owl Sanctuary. Memories were made that will last a lifetime.

Dovecotes and Wolverhampton has lots of canals and yesterday Y2 walked to the closest canal on the estate. They looked at the features of a canal and discussed the use of the canal for transport back in the 1700s.

Last week, our whole school community shared the joy of our pupils who were celebrating Eid and Vaisakhi by coming to school in brightly coloured clothes or wearing traditional dress. Zavian kindly brought a dessert from home to share with everyone in nursery. Thank you!

Our Early Help officer Trudi came into school to launch the Junior PCSO programme yesterday. She has never ran the programme with Year 3 children before and was amazed at how mature our pupils were. We are so proud and look forward to the next 5 weeks of learning with her.

Pendeford Library will be hosting a family fun day for youngsters with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) from 1pm-2.30pm on Monday (15 April).

The SEND Family Fun Day for under fives will include stories and crafts, fun and games and sensory toys while Parent Champions will be on hand to provide support and advice around autism. Booking is essential and spaces are limited. Please note, the library will be closed to the public during the event.
