Well done to our Under 13's Cricket Team who competed at the Chance to Compete Cricket County Finals on Monday at Wolverhampton Grammar School Official. They finished 5th overall. All the students played exceptionally well against some very tough competition from other schools from across Staffordshire. Fantastic effort!🏏🏏🏏
What a fantastic afternoon we have had hosting Newbridge Preparatory School as part of the WolvOlympic celebrations. The pupils were from years 3, 4 and 5 and were in red house, blue house and green house. Our Sport Leaders and A Level students kept them competing in their Houses to encourage House spirit and teamwork - attributes which are highly valued at WGHS. The pupils competed for House points in athletics, volleyball and tennis - the overall winners were Blue House! Well done to all the pupils who took part, they worked so hard and were impeccably well behaved!

Our first group of students this year completed their Bronze DofE expedition over the weekend. The weather was perfect for the expedition - not too hot not too cold! We had a couple of blisters, tears and moments getting lost however the students were mostly in good spirits, some already contemplating Silver next year!⛺️

Yesterday we welcomed former student Kate Allan back to WGHS to receive an Innovate UK Women in Innovation Award which was presented to her by Wolverhampton Mayor and Emily Nott of Innovate UK.
Kate has achieved so much since leaving WGHS, receiving a Masters Degree in Product Design Engineering from Loughborough, during which time she set up her own business ExpHand Prosthetics. Kate’s company has developed an upper body limb prosthetic for children which is lightweight, adjustable, affordable, colourful and most importantly that grows with the user. She has received a number of accolades and her business is going from strength to strength. We are so proud to be part of her journey and her plaque now resides in our reception area to inspire current and future students for years to come. Congratulations Kate!
All Y9 students have had 8 weeks during their year of Design & Technology to use pattern blocks and sewing machines to create their own "loungewear" style shorts. Today, the last group worked hard to finish their shorts off to an excellent standard - all having followed the sequence, made their own adjustments and included not one but two pockets, learning practical skills and gaining confidence in using the sewing machines along the way.
At the end the students couldn't help but model their handiwork and share pride in what they had created. A mini catwalk along the D&T corridor was a fun way to end the half term - Well done Year 9!
