📚 Young bookworms are being encouraged to sign up to this year’s Summer Reading Challenge – and get active while developing a love of reading. This year's challenge is Ready, Set, Read!, in partnership with Youth Sport Trust.

Young readers can sign up at any of Wolverhampton's 16 libraries and get fun rewards while they read up to six books over the summer. All participants will be able to achieve bronze, silver or gold, with gold readers receiving a certificate and medal when they finish their challenge.

To support the challenge, there will also be a free programme of no less than 60 events across all libraries.

Councillor Jasbir Jaspal, Cabinet Member for Adults and Wellbeing, said: "Reading not only helps children to develop their imagination but gives them essential skills for adulthood. We have been supporting the Summer Reading Challenge for well over a decade and it is always very popular with young bookworms and their families, so grab your packs and give it a go."

If you're stuck for something to do then pop down to the Wednesfield Community Centre who have plenty of things going on over the holidays.

We would like to wish all our children and families a very restful and fun-filled summer holiday. Any messages sent to school will be monitored but unless they are an emergency or safeguarding issue, they may not be answered until September 😊

Yesterday our Reception children graduated from Balance Ability. All the children who took part are now able to ride a balance bike and 26 of these children can now ride a pedal bike without stabilisers 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️ We are SUPER PROUD of them all! A huge thank you goes to Mr Rymer from RB Gym & Sport Ltd

Y4 have had a very ... very late sleepover! We’d like to say they are tired this morning but that’s just the teachers 😴😴

Year 4 are having a wonderful time at their sleepover ... food and party games before a film and bed 😊

Y1 definitely had amazing sportsmanship today in their sports day session 🥇

Even though it rained, the children still managed to build sandcastles and play on the beach! They have all had a super day … most of them are fast asleep on the coach journey home (and that’s just the teachers and parents 🤪)

Even after their lunch, there was still room for chips 🥰

Year 6 have been VERY VERY competitive during their Sports Day session ... luckily no one was injured 😂😂

And they’re off to the seaside.. have a lovely time 😊😊

Due to more rain 🙈 we have made the decision to move sports day inside today. Sadly, this means parents are unable to watch as there is not enough space for the events and spectators. We understand that this may be upsetting for you but we do not want the children to miss out on any fun. We will as always post lots of photos and let you know the winners of year group events 😊

It’s a very sweaty Y4, Y5 and Y6 disco …. But there are smiles and dancing galore 😊

Tomorrow is our Summer Discos 🪩 Children in reception can come to school dressed in their party outfits as their disco will begin at 2pm.
Years 1-3 disco is 3.30pm - 5pm … children should bring their clothes to school and will get changed at the end of the school day.
Year 4-6 disco is 5.30pm - 7.15pm.
Tickets are still available in the school office at a charge of £3.50

And so their ending begins…Year 6 chose the lunch menu today for their Leavers Lunch.
