Our babies have loved exploring the sunlight and creating shadows as it streams through our big windows.
Last Friday was our first week at Forest School. It was very wet but we had an amazing time. We explored the wooded area looking at new shoots and flowers and we especially liked creating in the mud kitchen.

Photos from our preschool stay and play session. They also loved decorating biscuits as well as exploring coloured rice. The preschool decorated salt dough hearts before painting them and adding glitter.
Just a few photos of our baby room stay and play. They had lots of messy sensory activities and enjoyed decorating biscuits as well as exploring real petals in the sand.
What a busy week. This week all of our rooms have had Stay and Play sessions.
This is our toddler room. They decorated biscuits, made love bugs, explored chocolate scented play dough and mixed a bubbly love potion. ❤️❤️❤️
Meet Chloe 👋🏻
Chloe joined us at the end of last year and has moved straight into the baby room to support Sonia and Molly. Chloe holds a Level 3 qualification and has had over 8 years experience in childcare.
Last week our babies loved exploring and creating pictures with natural resources. We explored different animals and the sounds they make. We even tried to draw polar bears!
What a busy week our toddlers have had!
We started by exploring the Northern Lights, using paint to create pictures. We then explored and created different habitats for our toy bears to explore.
We visited the library, where they had created a huge display of ice and snow books to help with our learning. Using these books we found out that bears love to eat fish! So with Suzanne’s help we prepared and tried Sea Bass.
Meet Lucy 👋🏻
Lucy joined us at the end of last year and has moved straight into the preschool room to support Louise. Lucy holds a Level 2 qualification and is just about to complete her Level 3.

Our Special Interest story this month is Boogie Bear by David Walliams.
Our preschool have started to enjoy this book by exploring the Arctic. They have made igloos with sugar cubes and playdough. They have used paint to mix colours to recreate the Northern Lights, and they have been exploring Arctic animals through mark making and small world.
In November we held a “Light Night”’ where we invited all our families in to explore all the lovely work our children had done over last few months. We held the majority of the night in our gardens before coming together for yoga and food. We had an amazing turn out and managed to raise over £200 for our chosen charity.
Today we had a visit from Santa and his elf. The children were all able to take a ride on our Polar Express train, where they all managed to get a special present before sitting down for our Christmas dinner!
Meet Jo. Jo is our Provision Manager here at our Penn setting. Jo has been at Penn since the start and before that worked at our Wolverhampton setting. Jo is passionate about her job and goes above and beyond to make sure that the children who attend the nursery have a lovely environment to play and learn in. One of our biggest challenges at our Penn setting is getting the message out that we are not linked to Penn Kids in any possible way. Penn Kids closed last year and we took on the building, decorated and furnished the rooms to match our ethos and values and then opened in January this year. We are still awaiting our Ofsted inspection which is normal for new settings. If you are interested in our Penn setting but you are worried about this please take a look at our Ofsted report from our Wolverhampton setting as this will give you an idea of how we do things at Little Oaks 💜 Also please feel free to organise a show round so that you can meet the staff and see the setting for yourself.
Meet Andrea. Andrea is our new setting SENCO. Andrea will be working across both of our nursery settings and will be working closely with children, families and staff to ensure that all children are able to meet their full potential and are ready for the next step in their journey when the leave Little Oaks
