Online Safety News!
Do you know your BBFC and PEGI ratings and why it is so important to be aware of what they are? However, apps and other digital content can not always be classified.
According to PEGI 'Certain apps function as platforms and offer a broad, variable selection of content (e.g. Netflix or Spotify). For these apps, we use the parental guidance icon, alerting parents that while age-appropriate content may be available, the platform may also offer access to content that is not appropriate for children.'
Games such as Roblox now issue this parental guidance icon!

Hello!
We are looking for parents to join our online safety group.
The group meets half termly to discuss the important issues surrounding online safety. So far the group has created social stories about keeping safe online, updated and changed school policy to reflect the needs of our students, and hosted online safety days.
We need parents to have their say on what support they need at home. You do not need to be 'tech savvy', but if online safety is something you are interested in, please contact Noosha (Online Safety Lead).
Next meeting 22 November at 3pm or 28th November at 10 am.
Thank you!

On Wednesday children and staff from Broadmeadow were delighted to participate in the first leg of the Wolverhampton Community Games Baton relay. Every pupil at school was able to participate on the day which was wonderful. They were cheered on by lots of families as well as children and staff from West Park school, who took the baton on the next leg of its journey.
Thank you to all who came and supported the children helping to make this a very special occasion. An extra big thank you to Police Constable Tim Lovatt, our local community Police Liaison Officer, who made special arrangements to close the road adjacent to school for our event

On Friday we welcomed Harjit Singh from the Wolverhampton Music Service who provided a music workshop for each class, introducing us to the dhol drum. The children were given the opportunity to listen to him play along to asian fusion music and have a go themselves on their own mini dhol. We finished each session with a dhol parade around the hall. Harjit really enjoyed his time at Broadmeadow so I'm sure we will see him again very soon!

Squirrels and Robins class celebrated Halloween this week with a range of craft and sensory play.

It will soon be Halloween and there are some great ways you can get involved in this spooktacular holiday!
1. Sensory exploration – when you’ve carved your pumpkin lanterns, save the scooped out flesh and seeds for some sensory exploration. Pop it in a zip loc bag for mess free squishy fun.
2. Crafts – create some spooky friends using a range of media. (see some of the pictures for ideas below).
3. Imagination – explore some Halloween costumes and practice your most evil laugh! If your child doesn’t like dressing up, you could dress up dolly or teddy instead. Wrap toilet roll around for an instant mummy costume!
4. Music – have a boogie to the ‘Monster Mash’ or listen to the 5 little pumpkins song. There are some great Halloween sound effects and music available on YouTube.
