A fantastic start to our partnership with Crowmoor Primary School. The school will be joining SHINE Academies in September 2024 but we've been working together to ensure rapid school improvement. The report is a credit to everyone who has been involved, particularly the staff who have embraced the changes for the benefit of pupils and their families.

Amazing news from Villiers Primary School today as they have been confirmed as a Little Wandle Champion School! This means the school has met 16 Standards of Excellence in the teaching of early reading and phonics and will now have other schools coming to see Little Wandle in action at the school and share the wonderful work our staff and children are doing.

So very proud of all of the staff and to be part of this fantastic network of Champion Schools across the country.

Delighted to welcome Crowmoor Primary School to the SHINE Academies family - despite what the article says, we not quite there yet with conversion but we're so close! The school and its community certainly feel part of the Trust already though. We've been working closely with the school since October - Julie Grice, Acting Headteacher, is the substantive Deputy Headteacher at Northwood Park Primary School!

Shrewsbury primary school 'excited for the journey ahead' as academy takes over A former struggling Shrewsbury Primary School has said it is "excited for the journey ahead" now that a Wolverhampton academy trust has taken over its running.

What a fantastic way to end the term - the Northwood Park Ofsted report is out today!!

We're sad to see Alan Rogers leave us today but what a fabulous send off he has. We are very proud of everyone who contributed to this fabulous report. OUTSTANDING Personal Development and Behaviour - WOW!

Alan says 'It is a fantastic coincidence to have received this report on my last day as Head. I am extremely proud to have been part of this community and fantastic school and felt welcomed from the moment I started. Our Ofsted inspectors felt this same sense of community and could see the strong relationship between parents and staff and how we are all united with a common goal to provide the very best opportunities for our children.

Just like the Year sixes and other staff who are leaving today, even though it is our time to leave this primary school, we will always be a part of Northwood Park.

OFSTED Report | Northwood Park Northwood Park Primary School was last inspected in June 2023 when Ofsted reported that we continue to be a  Good School and Outstanding in the areas of Behaviour and Attitudes and Personal Development.

Exciting news! Our school has received a generous donation from Northwood Park Primary School- a brand new book vending machine filled with a variety of books to inspire a love of reading!

Northwood Park Primary School had the pleasure of a visit from the Mayor of Wolverhampton, Cllr Sandra Samuels OBE, on Friday to open their new play equipment on the KS2 playground. This was quite a celebration, with a live band and lots of festive singing from our pupils and staff.

The Mayor’s visit was particularly special as she shared that she used to be a former pupil at our school. Hearing her share stories about her ten-year-old self walking down Bushbury Lane to school with her Father each morning reminded our children that anything is possible. 'Dare to dream' is Cllr Samuels theme for her time in office and she certainly inspired our pupils and staff. She is extremely proud to be the city’s first Mayor of African-Caribbean heritage in almost 200 years of history and only its 11th female Mayor.

What a fantastic opportunity and privilege for our pupils and staff!

'Close-knit community' school rated Good by inspectors

A Bilston primary school has been rated Good by Ofsted, with inspectors describing it as a 'close-knit community where everyone is valued'.

Inspectors visited Villiers Primary School just before the summer holidays and found that pupils feel safe, are polite and are well-mannered, and that the school’s ethos of ‘work hard, be kind’ is part of everyday life in school.

Pupils listen well and focus on their work in class, and there is a fun atmosphere on the playground.

Leaders, supported by SHINE Academies Trust, governors and the City of Wolverhampton Council, 'continue to improve the quality of education in the school'. They have 'overhauled and improved the curriculum and pupils achieve well as they progress'; even so, leaders are 'keen to develop the quality of education further'.

Leaders have thought carefully about the structure and content of the curriculum. The early years curriculum gives children a solid start for future learning and, in all subjects, there is a deliberate focus on widening and developing pupils’ vocabulary.

Reading is a whole-school priority and, from the start, children develop their reading skills well. Leaders organise a range of special events throughout the year to promote the love of reading and pupils spoke enthusiastically to inspectors about the school’s 'reading sheds' and its book vending machine.

The curriculum is enriched through a varied range of activities, including trips to the theatre and local outdoor areas, and through after-school clubs.

Pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are fully included in lessons and all aspects of school life.

Staff at all levels ‘feel valued and staff morale appears high’. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective, with staff well trained and knowing exactly what to do if they have a concern about a pupil’s welfare.

Meanwhile, parents praise the way the school attends to their children’s education and their wider development, and 'value the attention to pupils’ different needs'.

In his report, lead inspector Wayne Simner concludes that Villiers Primary School continues to be a Good school.

Lisa-Anne Rogers, Headteacher of the Proud’s Lane school, said: "We’re very pleased with the report as it’s a great reflection of the children and staff’s hard work. We’re proud that our efforts have been recognised.”

Councillor Chris Burden, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Work, said: "I would like to congratulate Lisa and her team at Villiers Primary School on delivering such a high standard of education to their children.

"It is clear from this report that leaders are not content to rest on their laurels and are determined to raise standards even further and I am pleased that we, as a council, are able to support the school on its continuing journey of improvement."
