Just for info - It's just come to my attention that a business directory company called Cylex are using my Nitty Gritty Learning details and copious amounts of text from my old website without my permission. My details are surrounded by ads for other education and tuition businesses, giving the impression that I endorse these companies whose integrity I know nothing about. I have asked them to remove my details from their directory as it seems not to be illegal to use them without my permission, but they should remove them once I get wise to it. I work only by word of mouth recommendations and posts or snail mail I send personally. I realise some feel this type of inclusion in directories (without permission) is simply a welcome form of free advertising, but I am a sole trader who has grown a trusting relationship with staff and students and I feel this directory is giving a false impression of the way I work in partnership with them.

Intervention and support for GCSE English, literature and literacy bookings are being taken for next academic year. All Wednesdays and Thursdays from September up until June are already taken for small group intervention/support. ( Not including twilights.)Still availability for Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays and also exam marking, once exam timetables are finalised. Still availability for staff training and planning support . It's nearly Easter but there's still so much to do to fill the learning gaps. It must be so hard to see the road ahead at present! I'm here to help if you're needing a clear plan to support students through the next months (and years). I offer English GCSE exam marking, examiner reports, planning meetings and intervention teaching to create a thorough strategy to help you through. I'm used to marking 100s of exams at a time and the examiner report and detailed annotations on scripts ensure you and your pupils have a solid knowledge of where each individual is and how to move them forward. Good luck with the lockdown everyone. As we move through Spring term, to help you collect evidence for predicted and projected grades, the AQA GCSE English Language marking and examiner report service is still available. Marking fees are per script so you only pay for the exams you send. It is also possible to send exam portions - eg English Language Paper 1 Section A only- for a reduced fee. This can help your students to focus on and master reading or writing sections before moving onto new skills. Some availability for pre and post Christmas GCSE mock marking. English Language AQA only. Whole cohort or samples to aid standardisation. Scripts are fully annotated throughout. A detailed examiner report is also an option. The service informs planning for progress and helps to evidence predicted grades, as well as freeing up staff time. Message for more info. Love this pic. NOW FULLY BOOKED FOR LONG TERM INTERVENTION FROM SEPTEMBER TO JUNE 2021. SO...
*Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays are fully booked for English/Literature GCSE intervention from September;
*Wednesdays fully booked from January 6th until the week after Easter 2021;

Many thanks for your kind emails. Nitty Gritty Learning has been helping English and literature students achieve GCSE success for twelve years and this academic year was no exception, in spite of unprecedented challenges. Schools who have used the mock marking, examiner report, staff CPD and student intervention services have found themselves in the perfect position to send predicted grades and provide detailed evidence to support these, should it be required.
Of course, return to school for year 10 will be challenging for many reasons, but Nitty Gritty Learning's strategies can help them, as always, to hit the ground running - albeit at a sensible distance. By addressing the nitty gritty of the English specifications, they can hone their skills over the remaining two and a half terms until their exams. Successful grades can still be achieved. Hats off to you for holding it all together so far.

Just a quick note - as English and Literature GCSEs are no longer taking place for yr 11, meaning I will not be marking for the exam board this year, I now have capacity to support English staff and yr 10 students with intervention, CPD and the mock marking service once lockdown is eased in the Summer term.
