The pigs were treated to some juicy blackberries today, and judging by the speed they disappeared, they went down very well!🐖🫐

They’re also making the most of the much cooler, wetter weather. After all that heat, a bit of rain is very welcome around here! 🌧️

Fun pig fact: pigs have an excellent sense of smell and can use their snouts to investigate all sorts of interesting smells, including, apparently, the smell of blackberries being handed over! 😂🐽

A pretty good day for the Sttebs pigs: rain, fresh air and snacks. We’re not jealous at all…

Happy International Dog Day! 🐾

Today is all about celebrating some very special members of the Sttebs family, the amazing dogs! 💜

From our much-loved therapy dogs who are here with us all the time, to the wonderful dogs who come in to visit, they each bring something completely unique to Sttebs.🐶

They provide cuddles, comfort, companionship, plenty of laughs and, sometimes, the perfect excuse for a little break from the day! 🥰

Our students absolutely adore them, and we’re incredibly lucky to have such amazing four-legged friends as part of our Sttebs family!🐕💜

Happy International Dog Day to our wonderful Sttebs dogs, we couldn’t imagine the farm without you! 🐾

That’s a LOT of legs! 🐛

Our millipedes have been having a wriggle around at Sttebs… and honestly, there’s something oddly satisfying about watching this many tiny legs all moving at once! 👀

Did you know millipedes don’t actually have 1,000 legs? Despite their name, the number varies by species, but they can still have hundreds of legs! 🦵

A little creepy? Maybe.
Fascinating? Definitely. 💜

Monday motivation, meerkat style.🥚🐾

Forget coffee… apparently all you need to kick-start the week is an egg and absolutely zero table manners.

Our meerkats are definitely ready for the week ahead, are you?

Looking ahead to Friday 👀, the weekend is in sight! 🙌

And who better to keep watch than one of our meerkats on sentry duty?

Meerkat facts:

👀 Meerkats take turns acting as a lookout while the rest of the group feeds or plays.
👁 Their excellent eyesight helps them spot potential predators from a distance.
🗣 They have a special alarm call for different types of danger.
🫶 Meerkats live in close-knit groups called mobs or gangs.
💪 Despite their tiny size, they’re seriously brave when protecting their family!

Now…back to keeping an eye on that weekend!😂

A little makeover for our tiniest residents! 🐭🌿

Today our harvest mice had an enclosure refresh, with lots of natural materials, long grasses and new places to explore. 🌾

And judging by how quickly they disappeared… we think they’re rather pleased with their refreshed home! 🐭

🐭 Fun fact: Harvest mice are the smallest rodent in the UK and are expert climbers, using their prehensile tails to help them navigate through tall grasses!

At Sttebs, even the tiniest residents get plenty of enrichment and care. 💜

When the sun is absolutely scorching, you know where to find our pigs… 🌞🐷

Nothing says summer quite like a good old wallow in some lovely cool, muddy water! 😂

These lot have definitely found the ultimate way to beat the heat today, and judging by those faces, they couldn’t be happier! 🐷🤎

Cool down, get muddy and repeat, that’s the Sttebs way! 😎

Just an alpaca enjoying a little sprinkler therapy. 💦🦙

It’s been a hot one again, so our alpacas found the perfect way to cool down… and they have been absolutely loving it! 💜

🦙 Did you know? Alpacas have a thick fleece designed to protect them from the elements, but that can make hot weather uncomfortable. That’s why we take extra care during warmer weather, making sure they have plenty of shade, fresh water and opportunities to cool down, while also keeping on top of their coats and ensuring they’re appropriately shorn and groomed. ☀️💦

Their verdict? Forget the alpaca walkies… they've booked themselves into the sprinkler spa for the foreseeable. 😂🦙💦

Remember our little hatchlings? 🐣

Well... they're not quite so little anymore!

One has become our resident explorer, always on the move and looking for the next adventure. The other has perfected the art of taking life easy and happily snuggling up whenever there's a chance.

Who knew so much personality could fit into two tiny chicks? 🐥💜
