Day 23 – Twinkl's Summer Tutor Photo Challenge: Making a Difference
I always aim to make a difference with the young people and families I work with, even if that difference is small.
Most of the young people I tutor have SEND and/or struggle with the school environment for various reasons. This can sometimes bring additional challenges, but this is where I feel I work at my best!
The most obvious improvements are often the grades written on a piece of paper and this does help to make a difference when young people can access their preferred next steps.
Improved grades are, however, often the outcome of all of the other work that has taken place with a young person - the changes that can't be measured by an exam or represented by a grade on a piece of paper.
These changes are so important to each young person, their families, and to me:
✅️ Improved confidence
✅ ️Developing new skills
✅ Enhanced self-esteem
✅️ A stronger sense of self
✅️ Adaptability and resilience
✅️ Better communication skills
✅️ Greater self-motivation
✅️ Able to problem-solve
✅️ Critical-thinking skills
These are the differences that really do matter and I hope that I help to make a difference, even just little bit 👍☺️
