Spending time outdoors can play an important role in children’s wellbeing, learning, confidence and development.

However, busy routines, safety concerns and limited access to outdoor space can make it harder for families, schools and carers to prioritise time in nature.

Our latest guide shares simple, practical ideas to help children reconnect with the natural world, including:
• Noticing wildlife during everyday routines
• Taking familiar activities outside
• Creating mini adventures
• Growing plants or building nature at home
• Using technology to identify birdsong, insects and wildlife
• Supporting older children with independence and sensible risk-taking

With realistic ideas for all ages, the guide helps make outdoor time feel accessible, enjoyable and worthwhile.

🌱 Nature Explorers Club 🌱

This term, some of the exciting activities we enjoyed included exploring rain and carrying out a fun rain experiment to discover more about the weather. 🌧️

We got creative by making natural clay pots, planting colourful flowers, and creating our own cress heads to take home and watch grow. 🌱

Our little explorers also loved pond dipping, where we found several newts living beneath the water. We built bug hotels to provide safe homes for insects and went on an exciting bug hunt to see what amazing minibeasts we could find. One of the highlights of the term was discovering a stag beetle during our bug hunt. The children were so excited to observe this amazing insect before leaving it safely in its natural habitat. 🪲

It has been a fantastic term full of outdoor learning, discovery, and adventure. We look forward to many more nature explorations next year! ☺️💚

🇫🇷 Bonjour & Bon Appétit! 🇫🇷

On Tuesday, our KS2 pupils celebrated Bastille Day in style! From playing boules and sketching the Eiffel Tower to ordering in French at our pop-up café, it was a fantastic day of culture and learning.

A massive thank you to:

Sarah Nimmey, our amazing MFL Lead, for organising the day.

Our wonderful parent volunteers for their invaluable help running the activities and serving food.

Our generous parents for the incredible food donations.

Bonus: You donated so much food that our EYFS and KS1 children got to join in the fun and enjoy some delicious pastries and baguettes from the French market café too! 🥐🥖

🏆 KS1 Sports Day 2026: Sun, Smiles, and Incredible Team Spirit! 🏃‍♂️💨
What a spectacular morning at our beautiful school for the KS1 Sports Day! The field was alive with energy as the children tackled a fast-paced carousel of fun activities, followed by some incredibly speedy relay races. Our superstars gave 100% effort, beautifully demonstrating both sporting agility and fantastic team spirit while our enthusiastic crowd cheered them on! 👏📣 Since so many children braved new experiences, the grown-ups did too - donning sombreros for a hilarious "no holding your hat" relay that showed off our perfect community spirit. ❤️ A massive thank you to our wonderful PTA for the refreshing rocket lollies 🚀🍦, to Jack and Sam for another brilliant morning of sporting fun, and to our incredible staff team for their nurturing support that delivered confidence and smiles. We are so proud of you all - Go Evendons! 🌟
