Hi Everyone,

It’s been a while but I wanted to come on here to announce that I’m closing the business down. This is happening for lots of different reasons, like family circumstances, time and having lots private tutoring pupils. However, the main reason for closing the business is due to viability, without compromising on quality, sustainability and eco friendly products it’s just not possible to keep going. I could replace all my wooden products with plastic but I don’t want to do that. I will miss being creative and making all of the sets but at least I still get to do this with my own children for now 💖

Onto the positives, I do feel incredibly proud of everything I’ve achieved and with over 250 orders in just 9 months I can’t even begin to thank you all enough. A loving thank you to my husband, who is my absolute rock and my biggest fan 😘 Now onto all of you, to anyone who has ordered anything from me, liked or shared a post I am eternally grateful 🥰 This wouldn’t have been possible without you all!

I have put together all my remaining stock into the last sets I will make. I have already sold lots of orders this week on Etsy, which has shocked me. I won’t be making any more peg dolls but if I have any requests, depending on time, I might be able to make some for you.

✏️ Mark Making set ✏️

I made this mark making set last week for a preschool to go in one of their large indoor tuff trays. The set includes:

🍃 2 bags of white play sand with environmental friendly glitter to give a beautiful shimmer. These bags are 750g each to give them enough to last a long time.
🍃 90 wooden lower case letters. These can be used to make childrens names, individual phonemes, digraphs, trigraphs and words. I carefully selected the quantity of each letter to make sure you can make a huge variety of words.
🍃 6 Different sized paint brushes for making marks in the sand.
🍃 8 wooden log slices with hand-painted writing patterns on BOTH sides. Each side contains a different pattern so you have 16 in total. These are hand painted with iridescent paint and sealed to protect the paint.
🍃 2 mark making double-sided learning cards created by me. These carefully explain pencil grip, mark making, handwriting patterns and letters. These can be used as a guide of what you would typical expect at a certain age (0-5+). I’ve even included joined up handwriting patterns so the set could be used into key stage one.

Mark making and writing, without using paper, eliminates that fear of ‘getting something wrong’. Using this set you can experiment and explore and keep trying over and over again. It’s also lots of fun!

I’m visiting the setting soon to give a talk to the parents, so I can’t wait to see the set in action. My talk will be on the importance of open-ended play and also some tips on how to support and challenge your child at home with their learning and development.

🐣 Chicken Life Cycle Disks 🐣

How cute are these? My daughter loves learning about how things mature and how things works. The language she has learnt from exploring the book and life cycle disks has been amazing ⭐️

I absolutely love chickens and I’ve always wanted my own. I’m trying to convince my husband, it’s not going well 😂

I absolutely love both of these book. Sonya’s Chicken is a beautiful story about Sonya’s love for her chickens. It covers the interconnectedness of nature and true joys and sorrows of caring for animals. Life cycles takes you through each stage of how a egg turns into a chicken. Both books have excellent vocabulary and will guide your child though the beauty of nature.

ROAR!!! 🦖

Making the best quality sets with heaps of open-ended play opportunities, including mainly natural materials for the best price is really important to me. Therefore, over January I’ve spent time reflecting on each set and have made some small tweaks to some sets, with no increase in price.

🦖 To the dinosaur set I’ve hand painted the word ‘ROAR!’ with a footprint on the small pieces of wood. I’ve used a beautiful emerald green iridescent paint to add a wonderful shimmer.
🦕 I’ve also added 20 green glass beads to add another layer of texture, colour and depth to the small-world dinosaur scene.
🦖 Finally, I’ve included another tool, a plastic tweezer scoop, alongside the wooden paint brush and hammer. These all help develop your child’s coordination, fine-motor-control and dexterity. Initially, these are really hard to use but with practice and perseverance your child will get there.

I’ve been setting up one of the Dinosaur learning card activities today, which my 1 year old and 5 year old are very excited about! I’ll be showing you some pictures in the next few days! The learn card includes lots of different activity ideas which can be started when they are little and extended when they are older. 🧧 Chinese New Year 🧧

We’ve had so much fun with this really simple set up this week. I’ve just used bits from around the house to celebrate Chinese New Year 2023 - the year of the Rabbit.

Then I printed off the rabbit cards from the internet. The peg dolls and pots are things we already had in the house. The number wooden circles are something I made for my eldest when she was really little. The Pom-Poms and pipe cleaners are things from my crafty, creative stash that I always have.

Lots of learning with pouring and mixing with my youngest, continually developing his hand-eye-coordination and fine-motor-control. We’ve also done lots of counting as we’ve poured, mixed and moved all the loose parts. After school my eldest has been writing numbers in the rice and having a go at writing Chinese characters - Hanzi. She has been totally fascinated about the characters being 3000 years old, making it one of the oldest writing systems in the world!
