Next week is SATs week for Year 6. Sythwood will be hosting a very special SATs breakfast for Year 6 children only. Children are to be dropped off at the Junior Hall at 8:30 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We would love to see as many Year 6 children as possible! Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest over the weekend and brings their water bottle and school bag with them on Monday.
Thank you Greenfield School for a great day. Year 5 are looking forward to their visit tomorrow :-)
We are excited to share that Mrs Matheson has had a healthy baby boy. We will share a photo on next week's newsletter.

Cultural Day
To recognise all the cultures within Sythwood School we would like to hold a mufti day on Friday 6th May.
Children are encouraged to wear traditional clothes from their culture or clothes that are important to them (this can be anything children feel comfortable in).
We are asking for a £1 donation and all money raised will go to The British Red Cross for them to continue their humanitarian work around the world.
Our wonderful Year 5 children really did us proud on their recent Easter Experience trip to St. Andrew's Church. Have a read to see the feedback we received from the trip leader:
'It was such a joy to have your staff and pupils with us on Friday for the Easter Investigation! The pupils were fantastically well behaved (probably the best behaved group we have ever had to do this event), and they asked some very insightful questions.'
Well done Year 5!
Break-ins Update
Thank you to everyone in the community who rang the police, gave statements and shared useful information. We have been working closely with the police and have shared the names of the people who are believed to have caused the crimes. The police are continuing their investigation and will be following up with all those involved.
We are pleased to say that some of the stolen goods have been returned to school.
Thank you all for your continued support. We have and will continue to invest in site security so there is no disruption to your children's education should this happen again.
Warning for parents
A horror game character from ‘Poppy Playtime’ named Huggy Wuggy has been raising concerns amongst parents, police and safeguarding professionals.
A number of children (as young as 4) have been talking about watching scary videos on Youtube with the character Huggy Wuggy. Lots of these videos show gruesome scenes of blood because Huggy Wuggy uses his sharp teeth to eat anyone it catches.
Please make sure you know what your children are accessing online.

We had a great first day back in Nursery, getting messy with flour, eating ice-cream sundaes and building towers.
Please contact us at [email protected] for information regarding spaces for September 2022.
Break-in update
I am sorry to say that the school was broken into again last night. A computer projector and cordless drill were stolen and we believe that the thieves may try to sell it in the local community.
If you are offered either item, please contact the police.
The images are not the exact models of equipment but will look similar.
Thank you
School Break-in
We are sorry to share that the school has been broken into a number of times over the Easter holidays. It appears ‘they’ have forced entry and damaged property as well as taken some equipment.
Thank you to those local residents who have seen people on-site and reported it to the police.
We have spent considerable time and money updating the security this holiday and there are further plans to enhance the security of our school site.
If someone you know has returned in the evening with equipment that is clearly not theirs or you know of people who have been on site, please contact the police and log it with them as they have a case file open for us.
Thank you for your continued support, we look forward to seeing all the children back in school tomorrow morning at 08:45 ready to start the summer term.
Parents of children in Year 1 and Year 2:
In school we use White Rose Maths for maths lessons. By downloading their new app '1 minute maths' you can support your child at home and it will make a big difference to them in school.
The app is free, needs no internet and no log in details. The children play for 1 min at a time and it links in with the learning they will be doing in school.
This is a fantastic way to keep the children busy over the holidays and make sure they don't forget any of their maths knowledge in the two weeks off.
Dear Parents/Carers
Please see attached this week's school newsletter.
Have a lovely break.

FREE training and event for 6-16 year olds
The Specsavers Surrey Youth Games is the largest multi-sport youth event of its kind in the South East of England, offering FREE local training for those taking part. This unique programme brings together 6-16 year olds from Surrey who often don't have access to the sort of sporting opportunities that others take for granted.
After a break for the pandemic the Games are BACK for 2022 with exciting new activities. Training kicks off after Easter in every one of the county's boroughs and districts (find links to check the activities in your area), with a final, celebratory event at the Surrey Sports Park in Guildford on June 18. https://www.activesurrey.com/SYG
The Games are firmly aimed at beginners who might not otherwise get the chance to attend clubs or are inactive and put off by the thought of competing against others. The focus is on joining in, having a go and having fun. Check the training in your local area and register now

If you would like these stools or the black sofa then please call the main office (01483 770063). We no longer have use for them and want to give them away.
The items need to be collected today. The sofa is very heavy so you will need more than one person to collect it.

Daffodils and Sunflowers have enjoyed learning about and making their own ‘Humpty Dumpty Sat on the Wall'
Children in Year 5 have been working hard during Third Space Maths. Each child has a tutor who guides them through their maths work on the computers to help them to be ready and be their best during maths lessons.
It's so exciting to see the beginning of the children's writing journey.
Well done to Jamie in Reception for using your sounds and some lovely letter formation!
