Aiming to paint out every day in July. Day 1: Horsell Common Heather just peeking out. A few tips photos in the mix… use of a scraper rubber tool
so I’ve just made this … I’ve been making 50 panels to paint for July paint out month. Need a drying rack for paintings/gessoing panels/and resins. So I took a wooden CD rack - split in half and swipe to see how it was made. Made for 12” panels. So will obviously fit 10x12 12x12 12x14. Considering splitting in half and propping both against the wall. Taking up less space.
Sometimes people might wonder why I do paintings outdoors on squares of board? Why not rectangle or canvas….. this is the reason why… I will often make something where there is actually two paintings in one. Always wanting to paint everything! I think the compositions work better chopped. 🤔 Here is before and after the …
Sometimes you’ve got to slow down and take stock. Four exhibitions in one week but it’s been managed. This Last Saturday was and all the hard work of emma and Her team of dancers and musicians and choir and poetry and jo with clay and watercolour. So so many people have taken part. Helped drive this well being project forward. The finale is September 8th and perhaps this will spin into another project any one of you can take part in. All the more needed as I see charity is set to shut down! Thinking of everyone. Do something for yourself to keep you in a happy place when you can xx
Out painting with and out with in London yesterday and got interviewed by the BBC news about our rail travel between strikes, ok on a non strike day I guess - feel for everyone this week though ….. lovely to get the publicity and a reminder to a few people (who’ve since contacted me) that they want a commission done! Gotta love the press. Thanks to John Killen of the Wappers whom invited me out to paint as a guest. Lovely to meet a few of you. Swipe to see the paintings of my day

Yesterday I did an amazing course with a fantastic Watercolour artist. We’ve been following each other for a while now. I was interested in learning about watercolour painting on canvas. Highly recommend her courses. Possibly the best one I’ve ever attended. Really look forward to seeing what I can explore with what I’ve learned.
So Henry and Jason are manning a stall for me at St Andrew’s School summer fair. while I have open studios at Lansbury. Do come along to either. Meanwhile I’ve also helped set up at Woking Art societies Town exhibition this morning. Busy day.…..
The Queens head was on all of these coins and while I painted them I did think about her long reign and her steadfast nature. These were minted between 2016 and 2019 and I thought about it capturing a moment in time. New faces will one day appear on our coins and how strange that will be.…. Wonder if we will spot minted coins in the coming days… Painting now owned by Woking council as of 2019
have fun today everyone on our street… sorry to miss the fun. Art just Sold

RHS Garden Wisley yesterday with the amazing Peonie and Iris displays. 1hr 30 min oil painting. Group of school kids trotted across the bridge and left red reflections in the top corner… and little ducklings left before I could capture them in the foreground. Geese arrived. So I swapped in these amazing giant peonies.
It went so well last night. Well done all of you. A pleasure to see all of those wonderful and different pieces from that same inspiration.
Attempting to show the beautiful colours of a giant 1m x1m resin… finished off the frame painting today.
Visit beautiful Heather farm on Saturday and Sunday. Nice walk, yummy cafe stop and visit my Art gift shop next door. I will have small ink Bumble Bee paintings, my son and my unique resin earrings, larger seascape resins, very local oil paintings and lots of lovely cards. Woking Works Woking Photo is a example of recent works. Also the last few days to see my work at the Lightbox Victoria Square exhibition....if you're in town.
1m x 1m giant today… because it’s so warm the resin was setting in the pots at the end! Not ideal. However … very pleasing double layer outcome. My first giant one with pebble effect. Nervously waiting to make sure no dust or hairs get onto it.
Out in town this morning. Did a quick wee palette knife piece. Of coffee boat. We Love Woking The Horsell Village Wire

Ten days ago I was lucky enough to go past and see that the gardens were open for visitors. It was ticket only and I went to the desk to see if I could get in. Well a lovely lady there in the queue had a spare ticket - she got her money back from me and I got to go in. I had my paints in the van but no phone! So this is a painting of the secret garden with tulips as seen through the branches of an apple or pear. I got to meet the lovely ladies doing teas next to me. Was a very special morning. Wish I could have painted the bridge foley too. Next time. Certainly a dream
At Horsell May Fair today until 5pm. Very fun busy event. Lovely to see so many familiar faces. We Love Woking
In the past I’ve painted three plane commissions for this client. He has made them all and this is a 1/5th spitfire. His lovely wife made this request as a surprise. I used some silver white for the first time here. Let me just tell you a silver plane is very tricky to paint in oils. You know I love a challenge. Reflections of colour all over it of course. Recession in An expanse of grass that gets thicker and darker in the foreground is also super tricky. The daisies help the perspective..
In Summer 2020 I started this painting plein air… and recently got a last minute commission request for the same location (a collector of nine pieces). So I’ve just finished it off. Moved the Farncombe spire over and put a little punt boat added in the foreground.
