Talk positively about what’s ahead 🎉

Start talking to your child about returning to school, their new teacher, classroom, friends and all the exciting things they will be doing.

For younger or potentially anxious children, reassurance is particularly important. Remind them that Mummy, Daddy or their usual grown-up will always come back to collect them at the end of the day and that their teacher and the other adults at school are there to look after them and help with anything they need. 💛

Encourage your child to talk about any worries or questions they may have. Sometimes what seems very small to us can feel enormous to them.

Keep conversations positive, but don't dismiss their worries. Listen, reassure and remind them of all the things they already know and enjoy about school. A small change in language can help create a positive mindset.🌟

Resetting those routines 💤
After a wonderful long summer, getting back into a school routine can feel like quite an adjustment, for children and parents!

This week, start gradually bringing bedtime forward and reintroducing a calm, consistent evening routine. Earlier nights and regular wake-up times will make those first school mornings so much easier. Try to avoid a sudden change the night before school. A little adjustment each day can make a big difference. 😀

And remember, children need plenty of sleep to be ready to learn, play and manage all those big emotions that come with a new school year. 💤
