Thames Basin Heaths Partnership Surrey, Hampshire & Berkshire. Three of the UK’s rarest birds nest here. It’s the nesting birds that give this land its legal protection.

Protecting the heaths of the Special Protection Area and promoting , local country walks that help protect the heaths. We’re a partnership of local councils, land managers and nature conservation bodies conserving the heathland of the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area across Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire. The Dartford Warbler, Nightjar and Woodlark rely on the heathland and nest on or near the ground, making them very vulnerable to disturbance. On this page we’re sharing the story of the heathland and bringing you news of , a conservation strategy to create dog-friendly local country walks that help protect heathland wildlife. We’d love you to fall in love with your local heathland and help secure its future by spreading the word about keeping to main paths, how to and . Not all of the have litter bins. And if they do, they may only be situated in car parks or at footpath entrances.

If you're enjoying some snacks out on the heaths, please do take your litter home with you if no bins are present. And remember when it comes to dog poo, any bin will do as long at it's bagged 👍

play an important role in promoting across , and . But have you ever heard of the term 'blue space'?

It's a term used to describe water bodies such as lakes, canals, ponds, rivers and streams.

Many people are drawn to water and find sitting on a riverbank a relaxing pastime. I certainly do. Rivers are ecosystems in their own right, providing an alternative transport link for wildlife! Research has shown that time spent around blue spaces can improve physical and mental health. Why not get exploring local to you?
