One tip is to create a comfortable study space. You can find an area at home that is quiet with no potential distractions. Having a designated and distraction-free spot to work independently helps kids be more productive. Plus, it keeps their work and thoughts organized!

It's common for students to lose about two months of learning in mathematical ability over the summer months and more than two months in reading achievement compared to their peers who keep their brains active. As well as the 'lost summer months' it's common for teachers to spend at least a month re-teaching material students have forgotten over the holiday period!

Holding a pencil or pen correctly requires strong finger and hand muscles and dexterity. A correct pencil grip will enable the writer to move the fingers, controlling the pencil or pen with efficient finger movements.

It is very important to address a poor pencil grip early. If it is not corrected, it can affect speed and fluency and impact on academic achievement, as well as put undue stress on developing joints causing pain when writing in exams.

At Kumon our pencil skills worksheets allow student to practice writing straight lines and curve lines in preparation for number and letter writing.
