Meet Your Teachers 💃

If there’s one person who exemplifies the spirit of First Dance Studios, it’s our Director, Emma. Creative, kind, beautiful, bonkers…multiple adjectives that still don’t quite sum her up, so we will simply stick with “she’s the best”.

Emma started FDS back in 2005, and since that very first tap class the studio has grown and grown, and provided a community for adults of all ages to learn, find joy in dance, and form lasting friendships.

Many of you know Emma very well, but we made her do the Q&A anyway. Mainly for those “baby” photos! But also because she’s hogging the timetable today teaching lots of classes, so a good day to come and dance some ballet, contemporary and jazz with her today.

Thank you Emma, for our wonderful dance studio. 💜

Good morning!

It's a rainy start (Karen and Angela arrived to Drop off & Dance this morning in the same raincoat and leggings, weird) but the sun is coming out and according to my phone, it should be now!

It's Friday 16th October and I don't think we have any birthdays today? Apart from my cousin Georgina, but you don't need to know that.

The Contemporary and Street Basics courses with Sophie start this Sunday and there is still time to sign up for those - if you do both of them, you get a free class afterwards!

Here is what's happening today and over the weekend, a guide to where, who and what....

It's National Dictionary Day today and Department Store Day. That's ironic because I could never spell Fenwicks. For years I thought it was Fennicks.

And on that fascinating note, have a lovely Friday and a lovely weekend.

Good morning!

It's a big birthday for one of our teachers today - the singing goddess and our Choir leader, Grace!!

Happy 30th birthday to such a talented, kind and generous soul and the biggest sweetheart there is. She looks like a Hollywood starlet and let's face it, we all want a singing voice like Grace's, effortlessly beautifully and with a belt to go with it.

30 years ago today, Grace was born and Grace Katherine "Words" by Boyzone was number one. It was that year, I was up for an audition for Boyzone (as a dancer, not as a male singer.)

We'll look at what else Grace shares her birthday with in a minute, but here is what's happening at FDS today....

Pilates with Hayley
PRE-RECORD ONLY – please ask if you would like the link and I will send it to you. £4 for the week.

Let's hope Grace likes mushrooms as it's National Mushroom Day. It's also National Chicken Cacciatore Day so that might help with dinner choices tonight. We're on leftovers but I might fry some mushrooms up, just for Grace.

Have a lovely birthday Grace, happy 30th and thank you for everything you have done for the studio, we love you lots.

Wishing our very own Grace a very happy 30th birthday today! 🥳💜

It was so lovely that First Voices got to celebrate with you last night 🫶

We’re truly lucky to have you leading our fabulous choir. Thank you for all the wonderful work you do with First Voices, as well as sharing your stunning singing and fantastic performances with us!

Here are just a couple of highlights from the last year.

Have a wonderful birthday, Grace, with love and all the very best wishes from everyone at FDS! 💜🧡💚

Good morning!

It's Wednesday 14th October and it's a beautiful day with temperatures up to 18 degrees today. Lovely.

Katie is on her way to Merrow and I think it is the 1st of the 2 weeks of Viennese Waltz! I think that's when everyone will soon find out how fast it is. Get your motion sickness bands on and let's go.

We have an array of fabulous classes again today (I don't know how we do it) and so here is what's happening and where;

LESTA - KNAPHILL

10.30am INTER BALLET with Chrystele

11.30am POINTEWORK with Chrystele

6.15pm BARRE FITNESS with Samantha

THE ARTS CENTRE, MERROW

10.30am Couples Beginner Ballroom & Latin with Katie

11.30am Couples Improvers Ballroom & Latin with Katie

ITALI CONTI - WOKING

7pm CHOIR with Grace

7.45pm HEELS with Diana

It's National Dessert Day today - that's two s's so it's the tasty one, not the hot one, although we all love a hot dessert. It's National I Love You Day and so from me to you, I love you.

Have a lovely Wednesday.

Good morning!

We have a birthday today, it's the fabulous, super toned, talented and beautiful Hayley's birthday. Hayley teaches a Pilates class on a Tuesday morning at LESTA and does a 30 minute recording each week for those that want to do it a number of times from the comfort of their own home. And she's a superstar. I also want her hair, weird I know.

Fran is away on holiday and so I'm coming over to cover class tonight, book on if you're coming as I'm going to do a one-off bit of choreography in Jazz! I won't hug you tight tonight as I'm getting over a cold, but I think an hour might be my limit, so I have a lovely girl called Rose who can cover tap tonight. She graduated from Performers and would like a bit of experience in teaching adults. Rose, now is your time to shine!

Here is what's happening and where;

RENTON – FARNBOROUGH

9.30am ADULT JAZZ with Vicky

10.30am ADULT TAP with Vicky

LESTA – KNAPHILL

10.30am PILATES with Hayley

HEATHER FARM

5.45pm MUSICAL THEATRE with Vicky

ITALIA CONTI – CENTRAL WOKING

7pm THEATRE JAZZ with Emma

8pm THEATRE TAP with Rose

I think I remember this from last year - Hayley, you share your birthday with National No Bra Day. I think even if a lot of us did Pilates every day, that wouldn't be a good idea. Each to their own though.

And dinner tonight? Lasagne. And the Mary Berry recipe. I still can't get it as good as my mum's but I'm trying.

Have a lovely Tuesday and a big toned Happy Birthday to the gorgeous Hayley.
