We are thrilled to announce that our Nursery will be opening 46 weeks a year from this September, offering girls (from 2 years) an exciting nursery experience. The extended provision will be known as Little Halstead. During term time girls will continue to participate in specialist lessons including PE, Music, Drama, Dance, Gym and Outdoor Learning. In school holidays Little Halstead will offer weekly themes, including daily activities covering all 7 areas of the Early Years Foundation stage. The girls will continue to practise skills covered throughout the term in our well-resourced classrooms and our newly re-developed outdoor area.
Fun and laughter are guaranteed, so to find out more, come along to our Little Halstead Open Morning on Friday 6th May 8.30am-9.30am, we would love to show you around.

Nursery girls had great fun watering and weeding the school flower beds. Lovely to see our youngest pupils tending the beds and pots with such enthusiasm!
To follow their theme of Fairy Tales, the Reception girls were asked if they could make a fairy garden using a paper plate or tray. The girls had fun using the gardens in their own play, and we all agreed that the fairies would be delighted to play in any of the gardens!
Year 3 had great fun this morning playing the game 'Going Loopy'! Girls had to crack the Easter riddles to make the circle!
On a cold Wednesday morning, girls in Year 5 and 6 participated in the eagerly anticipated House Debating competition. They have spent the week tirelessly preparing their proposition and opposition arguments for the motion ‘This house believes online learning is better than being in school’. All girls spoke confidently and fluently to deliver well-constructed points and challenged each other with thoughtful points of information. Both arguments were very persuasive and they all represented their Houses admirably.
This week the Nursery Ducklings have been consolidating the letter sounds that we have covered during the Spring term. The girls confidently identified the initial sounds in words and were able to match the letter with the pictures. Super work Ducklings!
Year 5 have been learning about separating mixtures. Chromatography is a nice way to visualise that mixed colours are made up of their constituent primary colours. Not all photos show the clear colour separation yet, as they were taken at the start of the experiment!
Year 6 have spent their RE lessons recently looking at religious art depicting The Easter Story and thinking about why artists portrayed the characters as they have and painted the scenes that they chose.
In science, as part of their lesson sequence about sound, Year 4 learned about pitch and how that is changed on various musical instruments. What better way than the girls demonstrating this on their own instruments to the rest of their class!
Year 5 enjoyed getting messy with chocolate during the last extra-curricular cookery session of the term. We think the girls may have consumed more than they decorated!
On a beautiful Wednesday Year 4 had a glorious walk to to watch the matinee performance of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. It was an excellent trip which has inspired the girls to write a review in their English lessons. The girls expressed balanced opinions about all aspects of the show, including the set design and music, and showed great curiosity through questioning. This fantastic afternoon was rated 5 stars by Year 4!
World Maths Day is an international celebration of mathematics. Today millions of students across the world compete in live Mathletics challenges to determine a global winner, while also participating in fun activities that highlight the wonder of numbers. Halstead girls were keen to take on the challenge!
