Major employers from across Surrey are pledging to support and champion opportunities for young people to access good-quality local jobs and apprenticeships.

The inaugural meeting of the Surrey Careers Hub Cornerstone Employers Group took place at our HQ in Reigate last month.

Representatives from Ringway, Macro, Nescot College , Wates Group and Surrey Heartlands Health and Care Partnership attended the first session. Other employers signed up to the mission are AtkinsRéalis, BAE Systems and Surrey County Council.

The group will work to promote the aims of the Surrey Careers Hub.

This includes influencing and inspiring more young people to enter their industry, collaborating with like-minded businesses and promoting social mobility.

The group will also look at ways to develop an exciting range of workplace experience opportunities for young people and their teachers showcasing a range of pathways into key sectors across Surrey - and encouraging others to do the same.

The Surrey Careers Hub was established last year and works with almost 100 schools, colleges, training providers and alternative learning settings across the whole of the county. It connects them to employers to ensure young people can take their next best step.
