Year 6 Residential
On the last day of their residential the children have been making bark boats to sail down the river for seed dispersal and doing some river dipping!

The children have been blessed with good weather today for their water sports and have the choice to take part in windsurfing, paddle boarding or kayaking!

The children had a busy day yesterday in the woods; making dens, playing scavenger hunt, making mini-worlds and then ended their day with a campfire and making s'mores!
They had to get up early this morning to get ready for their water sports adventure!

The children had a lovely day yesterday, exploring the grounds and learning about the sustainability of the site.

On their evening walk yesterday, they spotted some hares and deers in the distance, and lots of cows.
They have all had breakfast this morning and are getting ready for the day ahead!
The Year 6 girls got to try out their new football kit yesterday! They played fantastically and it finished 1-1
Early Years and Year 1 had a visit from the wonderful Mill Farm yesterday. They all enjoyed the hands on interaction with a variety of animals!

Chick update - Every child had the opportunity to hold a chick (or two) today!
Its that time of year again - Reception class received a delivery from Living Eggs.
The children get to see the chicks hatch from their eggs, learn about life cycles and how to tell if the chicks are boys or girls!
The children in Reception had a visit from the Fire Service yesterday, they had a fire safety talk and learnt all about what being a fire fighter involves!

We have had exciting progress with the swimming pool! In preparation for the summer term, we are having it re-grouted.

Some of our Year 3 & 4 children had the wonderful opportunity to attend a prestigious writing workshop this week, to further expand their writing skills.
They had the chance to meet and work with the poet Kimba.

Well done to our Year 6 football team for giving their all in very muddy conditions!
We are so proud of Year 5 & 6 for their brilliant production of The Tempest. This was the culmination of our work with the wonderful charity Delight and the Guildford Shakespeare Company. The children grappled with the lines and plot of a challenging Shakespeare play, whilst having a huge amount of fun.

The children and staff at St John's have had a wonderful day celebrating World Book Day. This afternoon they enjoyed an array of fun activities including den building, slime making and space art.

The sun was shining for the children’s last day at High Ashurst!
The YR4 children at school this week had lots of fun - they made musical instruments, pizza and took part in forest school!
