Feel free to ask questions, post photos or share memories. Latin American Studies at Essex was founded in 1968 and enjoys an excellent reputation nationally and internationally. The Area offers interdisciplinary degrees that bring together language experts, lecturers and researchers in all aspects of Latin America such as history, literature, film, and art. There are a large number of Latinamericanists amongst the staff and students at the University... and the area has developed strong academic and cultural links with many universities and businesses in the region. Furthermore, we now have the Essex Collection of Art from Latin America (ESCALA), that features artwork from, and information about Latin American artists, as well as: libraries, archives, and research in this field.
