🎉 Success follows success for pupils at Cokethorpe School!

Following last week’s outstanding Upper Sixth results, our Fifth Form pupils are today celebrating another excellent set of GCSE outcomes – continuing an encouraging upward trend across the School.

In 2026, 12% of all grades awarded were at Grade 9, 27% were at Grades 9–8, just under half were at Grades 9–7, and three-quarters were at Grades 9–6.

But, while we are delighted with these results, we know that the numbers only tell part of the story.

Behind every set of grades is an individual pupil, and today we are celebrating the determination, resilience and progress of every member of our Fifth Form. Whether pupils are celebrating strings of top grades or personal achievements that represent huge individual milestones, each has reason to be immensely proud.

We have also been delighted to see pupils continue to embrace the breadth of opportunities available to them alongside their academic studies, from a music tour in Belgium to an Arkwright Scholarship. We are particularly proud of the pupils who joined Cokethorpe from OLA midway through their GCSE studies and have shown such determination in reaching this point.

Today we celebrated our best Sixth Form results in recent times, with:

⭐18% of grades at A*
⭐ 48% of grades at A*-A
⭐ 77% of grades at A*-B

This follows equally impressive results from students on our BTEC Extended Diploma pathway, with every student achieving either a Distinction* or Distinction.

Some of our students collecting their results today have shared their reflections on the day, their next steps and their memories and experiences across their time at Cokethorpe. As they move on to their next chapters, this year’s Upper Sixth will leave behind a lasting legacy within our School community.

As Head, Dr Sarah Squire said: "Today is also about celebrating the remarkable young adults they have become. Our Year 13s have enriched life at Cokethorpe, whether through nurturing younger pupils as peer mentors, championing house events, organising a charity clothes swap or debating passionately. Grades are an important measure of success, but we are equally proud of the wider journeys our students have taken"

Several former students have returned to Cokethorpe this summer working as part of our Cokethorpe Camps team and have shared their own results day memories and where their next chapters have taken them. Their stories are a reminder that while today marks the end of Sixth Form, it is not the end of the Cokethorpe journey.

Congratulations to all our students on their achievements and the exciting next steps ahead. We look forward to following their future successes.
