I also support students all over the world with online lessons. I qualified as a teacher in 2003 and have taught across the primary age range in Oxfordshire schools since then. I completed my MA in Education in 2010, followed by the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination in 2013. I also hold a certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (Enhanced DBS) and complete regula
r training, including Safeguarding. I have been tutoring in Witney and the surrounding area since 2018, teaching both primary and secondary aged pupils. Lessons cover a range of subjects, often Maths and English, but also include humanities for older pupils. Each lesson is tailored to every pupil and their needs and I am very pleased to give feedback to parents and carers about their child’s progress in our lessons. Parents are always welcome to contact me to discuss their child’s needs and requirements. I am particularly interested in supporting pupils with additional needs, including dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism and language needs. When working as a Special Needs Coordinator (SENCo) in a primary school, I taught many children with a wide range of needs and guided staff and parents/carers with their provision. My experience of supporting children with a variety of needs and circumstances includes those who:
• have specific learning needs
• are home schooled
• have missed some schooling and therefore have gaps in their knowledge and skills
• have English as a second language
• require confidence in a specific area of their learning
• need further practise of a skill to consolidate understanding
• are higher attaining and require further activities to challenge and extend at a greater depth
• require support to complete their school homework tasks with more confidence
• are preparing for end of KS1 and KS2 assessments (Year 2 and 6 SATs). My work with schools and the Local Education Authority means I have an in-depth knowledge of the requirements for these. Tuition takes place at my home in Witney or online and varies in length depending on the child’s circumstances.
