Last week our Headmaster, Mr Towers, was delighted to join The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda to explore how cross-sector partnerships and ethical AI can help tackle disadvantage and create genuine opportunities for social mobility.

“As we bring emerging technologies into our schools, we must never lose sight of what really matters — the child, the teacher and the learning. AI should enhance education, not replace the productive struggle at the heart of great learning.”

A huge thank you to for another fantastic summer here at Barrow Hills!

We have loved seeing our school grounds buzzing with fun and adventure throughout the summer holidays. From activities and games to new experiences and plenty of smiles, it’s been a wonderful few weeks.

Our extracurricular clubs in action!

From sport and music to creative clubs and hands-on challenges, there’s something for everyone in our exciting extracurricular programme.

One of our favourite is LEGO Club, where our Year 5 & 6 children take on a new building challenge each Friday. The theme last term was ‘Under the Sea’, with teams earning points for both their creativity and teamwork. At the end of each half term, the team with the highest score takes home a prize! 🏆

We can’t wait to see what our talented builders create next term.

Our Year 5 astronauts reached for the stars last term! 🪐

As part of their recent space unit, Year 5 channelled their inner NASA engineers to produce a series of space themed designs.

Creation included everything from our familiar Solar System and the dwarf planet Makemake, to the scorching temperatures of Venus. The creativity, research and scientific curiosity behind every project were truly out of this world.

Reception had their first ever school trip! 🚤

From the excitement of spotting Arundel Castle from the minibus to exploring the wetlands by boat, Reception had an amazing day of adventure and discovery.

They enjoyed pond dipping, identifying a variety of pond creatures and watching the pelicans being fed. They were full of curiosity, asked lots of brilliant questions and embraced every new experience with enthusiasm.

Tuesley Farm Visit 🍓🫐🍦

As we look back on some of the wonderful moments from this school year, one of our favourites has been the visit to Tuesley Farm for Year 2 & 3.

The children spent a fantastic day picking strawberries, blueberries and raspberries, enjoying tractor rides and discovering how fruit is grown.

The perfect ending? A well-earned ice cream before heading home with with baskets full of delicious fruit!

With the end of term comes our annual prize giving ceremony 🏆

This year we were honoured to welcome back Sacha Dench, aka the ‘human swan’ as our guest speaker.

During the afternoon’s ceremony, we recognised the dedication, perseverance and talents of children across all year groups. From academic excellence, sporting success and leadership growth, we had a wealth of achievements to be proud of.
