School House Nursery Surrounded by beautiful countryside we offer a holistic, homely environment for the children to enjoy. We use natural, every day resources to educate.

School House Nursery was established in June 2007 and is situated in the rural settings of Holmpton. School House Nursery is self contained and set in the grounds belonging to the proprietor. As the name suggest the original building was the location of the Headmasters house alongside the old village school, and its original facade still stands. With a large garden and stables housing several hors

es the children are cared for in idyllic surroundings. The nursery is registered to take 30 children. The children are in three separate rooms, depending on their age. We have a baby room (0-2), a toddler room (2-3) and a preschool room (3-5). The toddler and preschool rooms both have access to the toilets, to allow the children to develop independence following hygiene routines. Each room has access to the large garden, and the baby room will be getting its very own little area which will be fenced off from the bigger children. We also offer the two year funding, and also the preschool funding. We are open from 8-6 Monday –Friday, except for bank holidays and a week over the Christmas period. Children are provided with meals and snacks which are all prepared fresh in the nursery kitchen. We are lucky enough to be able to take the children on outings around the village. through farms and fields to see animals and tractors. We use natural, holistic resources, and endeavour to provide a home from home experience for the children, with arm chairs, cosy corners and soft lighting.

During circle time, the children explored school uniforms and had the opportunity to try on school jumpers in preparation for starting school. This activity helped them become familiar with their new environment and encouraged conversations about the transition to Reception. The experience supported confidence, communication skills, and emotional readiness for this important next step in their learning journey.

Our babies enjoy their own dedicated outdoor garden at School House Nursery, thoughtfully designed to support their early development. With age-appropriate equipment and a safe, stimulating environment, they have the freedom to explore, move, and discover at their own pace.

Time spent outdoors helps to build physical strength, coordination, and confidence, while also encouraging curiosity and sensory exploration. Thanks to our nursery bus, we’re incredibly lucky to be able to take the children out on exciting trips like this throughout the year, giving them opportunities to explore and learn beyond the setting.

We were especially fortunate with the weather, enjoying sunshine on all four visits! Most importantly, every child had a fantastic time, creating happy memories and experiencing the joy of being outdoors with their friends. 🥰

Thank you to our two work experience students who joined us this week. They have both been absolutely wonderful with the children across all three rooms, consistently showing kindness, patience, and enthusiasm. Their polite and friendly manner has made a real difference to both the team and the children.

Both students demonstrated excellent skills, a strong willingness to learn, and a genuine passion for working with young children. They should be very proud of themselves, they are a true credit to their school and their families.

We are so grateful that you chose to spend your work experience with us, and it has been a pleasure having you as part of our setting. We wish you both every success in the future!
