There is something about an arched window that stops you in your tracks.

Crittall's bespoke arched windows are made to your exact specifications - whether you are working with a period property, a barn conversion, or a contemporary home where the detail is everything. Each one is handcrafted in Britain, with the care and precision that comes from over 175 years of steel window making.

No two arched windows are quite the same. That is rather the point.

Are Crittall windows a sustainable choice? The answer might surprise you.

Steel is one of the most recyclable materials on earth - repurposed repeatedly without losing strength or quality. Combined with a product lifespan that can exceed 60 years, Crittall windows are designed to last, not to be replaced.

Modern thermally enhanced systems reduce heat loss, support stable indoor temperatures, and can contribute to lower energy bills across the life of the home.

Beautiful windows. Built to last. Better for the planet.

What happens when an old office space becomes someone's first home?

This remarkable renovation - featured on George Clarke's Remarkable Renovations on Channel 4 - is exactly that kind of project. A space never intended for domestic life, transformed through careful thought, bold design choices, and the kind of detailing that makes a house feel truly personal from the moment you walk in.

Crittall windows and doors were central to the vision: bringing light, structure and a timeless character to every room.

This is what renovation looks like when it is done with conviction.

Crittall choices we’d make again.

In homes where every detail is considered, windows and doors are not simply openings. They shape how a space is experienced.

Crittall steel windows and doors bring a sense of structure that many modern layouts lack. They allow light to move through the home while maintaining a clear sense of separation, creating rooms that feel connected without ever feeling undefined.

There is a quiet confidence in steel. The weight of the material, the clarity of the sightlines, the way it frames a view rather than disappearing into it.

It is why these systems are often chosen in the most carefully designed homes. Not to follow a trend, but to introduce balance, proportion and permanence.

• Create separation while allowing light to move freely
• Sightlines that feel intentional and composed
• A material that carries weight, both visually and physically
• A presence that remains relevant over time

Some decisions are made for now.
Others are made to last.

Save this for when you begin planning your space.

On Friday, the Steel Window Association celebrates the very best in steel window and door design at the 2026 SWA Awards in London.

Among the projects featured in Architecture Today's awards preview is Adelaide House in London, a landmark refurbishment where we replaced the original frames dating from the 1920s, achieving modern performance standards without losing a single detail of the building's character.

This is what considered living looks like.

In well considered homes, every element plays a role in how the space feels.

These Crittall arched doors bring a sense of rhythm and balance to the interior, allowing light to pass through while maintaining a quiet sense of separation.

The curve softens the architecture. The steel introduces structure. Together, they create a space that feels calm, composed and intentional.

This is not about adding more to a room. It is about choosing the right elements, and allowing them to do the work.

Crittall steel pocket doors bring the perfect balance of flexibility and strength to your home. In this South-West London townhouse renovation, Crittall pocket doors were introduced by ade architecture and , in collaboration with Bespoke Glazing Design.

When closed, they create clear architectural boundaries between rooms. When opened, they slide seamlessly into the wall, giving homeowners the freedom to open up the space for gatherings while maintaining the strength and character of steel-framed design.

Russell Ager, Managing Director of Crittall Windows, shares:
“Pocket doors give homeowners flexibility without losing the strength and character of steel-framed design.”

We loved reading this Essex Live feature on the visionary village built for factory workers in Essex by the industrialist behind it all - Francis Henry Crittall.

It’s a powerful reminder that Crittall Windows’ history isn’t just about crafting iconic steel windows; it’s about community, innovation and design.

From humble beginnings in an ironmongery in Braintree in 1849, Crittall went on to pioneer steel-framed windows that helped shape 20th-century architecture - from modern homes to landmark buildings across the world.

Our founder’s vision even extended to building Silver End, a model village in the 1920s designed with housing, amenities and a real sense of community for workers and their families.

It’s local history we’re proud of - and a legacy that continues to inspire how we think about quality, craftsmanship and people today.
