🌟 OPAL Collection Challenge! 🌟

Dear Parents and Carers,
We have spoken to the children today about our exciting new OPAL Collection Challenge!

As part of developing our OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) provision, we are looking to build up our collection of loose parts and resources for children to use creatively during playtimes. We would love your help!

We are launching two whole-school competitions:

🏆 Challenge 1 – The Collection Champions
Every suitable item brought into school earns 1 point for your child’s class. The class that collects the most items will win a special reward!

⭐ Challenge 2 – OPAL Full House
Each class will have the same checklist of resources to collect. The first class to collect every item on the list will win a special reward. If nobody completes the full list, the class that collects the most different items will win.

We are looking for lots of different resources, including buckets, crates, wooden planks, kitchen items, dressing-up clothes, toys, balls, guttering, tubes, pots and pans, baskets, ropes, suitcases, watering cans and much more!

Please make sure anything donated is clean, in good condition, safe and suitable for play. Please do not send broken, sharp or unsafe items.

📅 The competition ends on Friday 6th November 2026.

Please send any donations into school and make sure we know which class they are for so we can add them to the class total.

On Friday 9th October we will be celebrating World Mental Health Day again as a school community (World Mental Health Day falls on Saturday 10th October). We will be celebrating with lots of mindfulness activities across the school including yoga, walk and talks, breathing strategies, circles times and sharing lots of positivity in our classes!

To celebrate, we would like to invite the children to wear non-uniform and incorporate something yellow for our ‘Hello Yellow’ fundraiser. This could be a t shirt, a hairband or even yellow socks. We would welcome any donations to go towards the charity ‘Young Minds’, that work hard to support young people with their mental health and wellbeing. We would also like to encourage children to celebrate at home! As a challenge, we would love to see the children sharing some of their favourite things that help them to bring a smile to their face via dojo. This could be a picture of them with someone that makes them smile, or something they like to do to make them feel happy! Thank you for your continued support.
