As childminding week comes to a close I’ll share with everyone what the Care Inspectorate stated just a few hours ago ā€œChildminders are making a difference to children and families every day – creating inclusive environments that engage, entice, and excite – and encourage children to play, learn and grow.ā€

We may highlight more what we are doing with children this week as it’s childminding week, but we do this day in day out caring & supporting children’s individual needs, identify and plan activities (both indoors and outdoors), play opportunities and educational (both adult led and child initiated) to support children's holistic development through a range of play, creativity, social development and learning.

Observing children's progress and development, and keeping record of this to collaborate and communicate with parents. Helping children to develop core skills, such as numeracy, literacy, colours, shapes, mark making to name just a few.

We work hard to make our settings fun and we are honoured that we get to see children grow from tiny babies to high school age, as we care for a very wide age group and I feel fortunate to have a tiny part in these little ones lives, I know I’ve had a lot of children use my service over the past 16 and a half and I’m very grateful to every parent/ grandparent that’s allowed me to share the joy of being apart of their lives 🄰

Over the past few weeks we have been raising our own butterflies. The children have been enjoying watching the miracle of metamorphosis! they have watched caterpillars change into chrysalides and then emerge as beautiful Painted Lady butterflies.
Watching the caterpillars change into chrysalides and then emerge as butterflies is a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn about the natural world. They have literally seen the butterfly lifecycle taking place over just a few weeks. Actually seeing each stage take place is amazing and it encourages the children to use lots of new descriptive language. It’s been lovely watching how much the children have been inspired to care for the butterflies ensuring they have been fed and watched them every day, sad to see them fly off today but all good things must come to an end. šŸ›šŸ¦‹

Not posted in a very long time but we have still been very very busy and it’s Childminding week. 🄰

Exploring Baron’s Haugh today taking the time to stop & be in awe of the surroundings. The colours, the smells, the different types of trees, what the leaves were called, finding insects, and listening to animals around, lots of great paths and information today for the little ones.
