Dare2drive

Dare2drive I have been a qualified approved driving instructor (ADI) since 2015 with 35 years of driving experience and an additional 15 years of coaching experience.

Looking to improve your driving skills, in or around Wisbech or Downham Market, we can help everyone from learners to instructors with proficient, specialist guidance, to unlock life-changing skills. I have driven many different types of vehicles over the years, clocking up thousands of miles and have been driving professionally and for pleasure. Before this I was a Gymnastics coach, which I had t

o give up due to various injuries. I missed the rush I used to get when my students would achieve their goals and so decided to join my love of coaching and love of driving together and become a driving instructor. I am qualified to train fleet workers and assess elderly drivers, together with those that wish to become driving instructors. If you would like further information, please get in touch.

A little update on what we can offer at Dare2Drive ☺️

We all tend to think that driving is a simple task, in fact it's extremely complicated and over time we pick up bad habits and forget certain things.

When was the last time someone watched you drive? When was the last time you looked at the Highway Code? When you took your driving test? How long ago was that?

The roads are busier, cars have more technology and the Highway Code is ever evolving, so it's highly likely that your driving is outdated. Maybe it's making you feel less confident in your ability.

If so we're here to help, we don't have any expectations and we won't apply any pressure for you to be that perfect driver (none of us are perfect!) - it's simply about helping you update your skills to develop your confidence behind the wheel.

I'd like to say a special well done to Libby who passed her test today. Libby accompanied me to my Standards Check a few months back doing extremely well as she'd only met me once and driven my car once previously. Libby has been learning to drive with our instructor Stephen Baker and on her own first test, it was cut short due to a collision. So getting back in the driver's seat and finally getting a chance to complete a full route, Libby made it with just 4 driving faults.

Well done and safe driving out there Libby.

When our instructor Stephen Baker took and passed his part 3 test, his daughter Chloe helped him out. She repaid him today by passing her own driving test 1st time with a mere 3 driving faults. It has been an absolute pleasure sitting in your lessons Chloe and seeing you develop into a lovely driver. We wish you all the best for the future ☺️

I had to share the review I have received today from one of my learners who recently passed their test. Thank you so much for your kind words Jana 🥰

After learning for a year with a previous instructor, I was told mere weeks before my test that I wasn’t ready. While that was true, I was left with absolutely no plan on how to get there. My confidence was completely shattered, and I was convinced I would never be able to learn how to drive a manual car, let alone pass my test.Willing to give this another go, I researched instructors who specialize in anxiety, which led me straight to Pennie.
Even with a fully packed schedule, Pennie squeezed me in. We immediately rebooked my test and began working on both the actual driving skills, fixing previously built habits, and, crucially, the psychology behind driving.
Instead of driving straight to Kings Lynn, we stayed locally, which allowed me to drive somewhat independently from the start.
What made the biggest difference was how structured and supportive her lessons were:
At the start and end of every single lesson, we would go over my goals and achievements and I had to rate myself.
We looked at what went well and what could be improved, which allowed me to see steady, undeniable progress (and read up on it, when I started doubting it after a few hours).
When my anxiety spiked and I wanted to pull out of the test, Pennie didn't judge me or encourage me to cancel it. She left the decision entirely up to me, walked me through the statistics of my driving beforehand (I was convinced I would fail my manoeuvre, but had actually never parked outside the lines for example) and allowed me to see my progress. Against all my own doubts, I passed my first test a couple of weeks ago and have been driving every day since!
Having someone like Pennie in your corner makes all the difference.
There is no doubt in my mind that Pennie is the absolute best driving instructor you could ever hope for, especially if you struggle with anxiety or have a diagnosis of neuro divergence. She doesn't just teach you how to pass a test or how to drive safely, she teaches you how to believe in yourself and your own abilities.

What a week it's been the 3rd pass for us here at DARE2DRIVE, all of which have been 1st attempts.

Keri has been learning for a fair while and has done amazingly well, overcoming many hurdles along the way. Even on the way to her test it wasn't an easy drive, an emergency stop as someone went to pull out in front of us, people crossing the road without looking and a car pulling up on the left to reverse into their drive, whilst another car waited to turn right at the same spot.

Keri coped with it all and then went on to pass her test with a few driver faults on he very first attempt. Absolutely fantastic Keri, my Saturday mornings are not going to be the same.

Take care out there and wave when you see me.

Stacey started lessons a few years ago with me in a manual vehicle and for a variety of reasons decided it wasn't for her. After another attempt at manual with another instructor, Stacey decided automatic transmission was the way to go, so she got back in touch and started learning with Bobbie.

Stacey had her first attempt at a driving test today and aced it with a lovely drive and only 3 driver faults. You should be very proud of yourself Stacey, for the perseverance and determination that led you to this point. I for one am very happy to hear the news of today.

Congratulations 😊👏

When Jana first asked for driving lessons with me, I didn't really have space for another learner. I agreed that I would take her out for an assessment, as she did have an instructor at the time and wanted to know what her driving was like as she didn't feel ready for the test that was booked.

I agreed, she wasn't ready, I fitted her in as and when I could and we finally managed to get consistent lessons. Jana has worked really hard and finally achieved her goal of passing her driving test with a few driver faults, on her very first attempt.

It's been an absolute pleasure helping you Jana, drive safely and keep in touch.

There are many reasons people consider becoming a driving instructor, they can drive well, they like driving, they think most people drive poorly, they can earn lots of money.

There's lots more to becoming a driving instructor, it's not about driving, it's not about telling someone how to do something and when to do it.

Becoming a driving instructor is about facilitating a learner, helping them understand what could kill them or save them. Allowing them to discover what works and what doesn't in a safe environment.

It's not a job to enter for the money, it's not a job to enter of you like driving, it's not a job to enter because you've been made redundant.

It's an extremely rewarding role, but it's not easy, it can be stressful, it can be hard, it can be life threatening.

Don't just think anyone can be a driving instructor, as it takes someone special to be able to do the job well.

My book goes through the process about what is required of you from the first thought of becoming a driving instructor, to actually being a driving instructor.

So if this is something you're considering, buy my book, get in touch with some local trainers and ask if you can sit in on some lessons, to ensure it's the job for you.

If you purchase my book it has lots of information about becoming a driving instructor, being a driving instructor, and the other job roles that are available if you qualify.

Good luck, and feel free to message me.
