Saturdays 2nd class was almost all Brown & Black belts .

The 13 of them represent many many years of training . Of consistency and dedication. Persistence and determination.

They have all gained and grown so much and are a fabulous reflection of what can be achieved in the Samurai Shotokan Karate School Dojo.

This hasn’t happened over night it has taken time . Brown Belts and Black Belts don’t just appear they grow over time.

The time these guys have invested in themselves and entrusted to our coaches at our Wisbech Dojo has paid a handsome return and will continue to do so for the rest of their lives .

Another week begins here in the Samurai Dojo in Wisbech.

A bit of fun but a serious message in the image . Whatever we do, whatever we face and however we are challenged , the spirit of the samurai is at heart of it .

The spirit of never giving up, endeavouring to be the best that we can be. The honest and loyal, respectful and disciplined.
And to take care of and be helpful to those that need it. To be humble in all our success, and educated by our failures .

28 years after achieving Shodan last night I was presented with Rokudan (6th Dan)

After successfully completing the physical, technical and knowledge based assessment requirements with BMABA
I am so humbled to be awarded this grade .

It was very appropriately left to my two Senior grades Carl Douch Sensei & Susan Powell Sensei to present the award. Both are excellent karate-ka and have been with me for many years. I am very honoured grateful and proud to have them both in the Dojo

This award is not just a personal one but one for the whole Dojo , for all that we have achieved as a Karate School. For the grades students have achieved .

The medals won in competition. A world champion too.

The lives we have changed and confidence we have grown in our students and positives contributions and difference made to peoples lives.

The standards that we work to and how we continue to progress and develop what we do and how we do it .

All these things were duly considered in the decision. All these things are what the award represents. Not just me.

All these things I am so proud of and is the difference at Samurai Shotokan Karate School. It makes us who we are .

This is what I have dedicated my life to for the past 28 years .

A massive thank you to my students current and from over the past 27 years .
Thank you for trusting and believing in me and in yourselves.

Thank you to the Senior Sensei that have inspired me, guided me and taught me over the years . I carry something of you all in what I do and I value that greatly 🙏

Thank you to my friends in Karate for your support and guidance over the years and for the testimonies that were kindly submitted in the process .
