What a Cheesy Day we had yesterday! We started with Whey cake, a deliciously fluffy sponge made with the whey from curd making, topped with a curd icing. We made curd and used the whey to make cheese and onion flatbreads. We made a Leek and Stilton Gratin. We ate cheese scones and cauliflower cheese fritters. The curds and remains whey were taken home to be used in an array of ideas such as cake, breads, sauces, vegetable bakes, pasta dishes…..
We finished with a cheese tasting of Silver Fox Cheddar from Shropshire, Moodys Rosary Ash Goats Cheese from the New Forest, Long Clawson Shropshire Blue and Époisses Berthaut a soft cheese from Burgundy with a rich orange rind due to being washed in brandy.
Thank you everyone who came. You made it a lot of fun. We will repeat this cheesy morning exploring another set of cheeses soon…..watch this space.
It is National Stilton week so go celebrate at your local cheese shop!

We're currently recruiting for an exciting role — could this be for you?

Ferry Project is an award-winning charity and social enterprise based in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire — and the largest provider of homelessness services in Fenland, supporting around 80% of people who find themselves without a home locally. We don't just provide a roof: we walk alongside people through crisis, recovery, and into truly independent lives. Over 25 years we've supported more than 3,500 people, and every day our team of 40+ dedicated staff makes a real, lasting difference to some of the most vulnerable people in our community.

Cookery School & Community Co-ordinator
Lead our thriving social enterprise cookery school, where food becomes a catalyst for confidence, connection and change. You'll design and deliver food skills sessions, manage community events and enterprise activities, and build the partnerships that help the programme grow and sustain its impact.

If this roles sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. Visit our website for full details and how to apply: https://www.ferryproject.org.uk/job-vacancies

Your Vote could make a BIG difference to someone experiencing homelessness. Vote for The Ferry Project as this month's regional charity on the Lidl Plus app. This could mean £10,000 that will directly benefit our clients who are currently experiencing homelessness.

Ferry Project is an award-winning registered charity and social enterprise based in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Since 1999, we have been dedicated to helping those experiencing homelessness and vulnerability across the Fenland area. As the largest provider of homelessness-related services in the district — supporting an estimated 80% of those experiencing homelessness locally — we engage with over 300 clients each year across housing advice, emergency accommodation, hostel living, resettlement, employment support, and health services.

Your vote would mean so much. Please click over to the Lidl Plus app now and vote for The Ferry Project. Voting closes on 7th October. Thank you.
