We had a wonderful 'wow' moment in Early Years this week when we released the Painted Lady butterflies which we had watch develop from tiny caterpillars. All 5 butterflies flew away into the blue sky, and it made our hearts 'sing’.

The children in Preschool and Reception have been learning the names of wild flowers such as daisy, dandelion and bluebell. The children made wild bouquets and petal perfume. We have passed down the tradition of making a wish on the final blow of a dandelion clock!

This week in Early Years we have celebrated Earth Day, which is an annual, global celebration showing support for environmental protection. This year the theme has been ‘planet v plastic’. We have recycled lots of plastic at school and used it in our junk model creations this week. We are learning to recycle as much waste as we can rather than throw it away…including using a compost bin for our fruit and vegetable peel/skins. Well done Beech class! ❤️ 🌎 x

A huge ‘thank you’ to the Turner family and Turner’s Coaches for a very kind donation to our Early Years setting. We are delighted with our new log seats for the children during Forest School sessions and some wood chip to get our gardening area ready for the summer term. The children will love it! Thank you again for your kindness 🥰x

Dunbury Early Years will be open tomorrow! Thank you so much to our wonderful school community for working so positively with us over the last few days while we made decisions around the site closure and alternative site arrangements. The children have adapted brilliantly and we are so proud of them all. Thank you for your kind words, communication and cheerfulness as we navigated a tricky few days. We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow!

Good morning, as per email communications last night, the Early Years site is closed today due to the flooded village roads. Preschool will not be open, but Reception children will be welcome at Dunbury Primary today in Winterborne Whitechurch if you can make it safely. ☔️

Our Early Years children have been learning some tool safety skills this morning at Forest School. The children have been whittling wood, which they will make into some fun characters!
