*** Our final camp - Camp Tiwi ***

During our final week, we worked on two mama's houses and were lucky enough to be able to finish one and hand it over. It was a truly humbling experience seeing how grateful the family was to receive a newly built mud home.

We took part in a cultural day in the local community where we helped to make coconut beans and mandazi; a delicious donut type treat. We undertook another beach clean and had a chance to work with the Tiwi Turtle Police, a conservation group who are working to increase numbers of critically endangered sea turtle species.

The highlight of the trip came when we were part of a sea turtle release after the Turtle Pilice rangers discovered a nest of baby Green Sea turtles on the beach. As they were not yet mature, we needed to wait for 5 days until they dug their way up to the surface and then had to keep them in the cooler sand until high tide. Once the tide was high enough, we all ensured that the hatchlings mafe their way to the sea before swimming off. Less than an hour after being part of this momentous occasion, we were on the bus en route to the airport.

We all had the most brilliant time and the students have taken away some amazing memories.

*** Winsford Academy Celebrates Strongest GCSE Results Since 2020 ***

Students were celebrating as they collected their GCSE results after years of hard work and determination.

We are delighted to report significant improvements in the proportion of students achieving standard and strong passes in both English and Mathematics, with Mathematics delivering its strongest set of results since 2020.

Results in Science, Photography, Health and Social Care, and Art were also particularly pleasing, with many students obtaining top grades.

"As we continue our school improvement journey, it is particularly pleasing to see the impact of the collective efforts of our students, staff and families. Having led Winsford Academy for the past two years, I am proud of the progress our school community has made together. These results, alongside the continued development of our curriculum and wider opportunities for students, demonstrate the positive direction of travel for the academy and the strong foundations being built for future success.

The positive results come ahead of an exciting new academic year for Winsford Academy. From September, Key Stage 4 students will benefit from an enhanced curriculum, including new Engineering and Hair and Beauty courses, further strengthening the academy's ambition to provide a world-class curriculum offer that prepares young people for future study, training and employment.

The academy congratulates all students on their achievements and wishes them every success as they move on to the next stage of their education and careers.

*** GCSE Results Day ***

We are incredibly proud of everything the Class of 2026 has achieved and of the determination and resilience they have shown throughout their journey.

Today is a celebration of their hard work, achievements and perseverance, and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for each and every one of them.

*** Camp Kenya Update ***
Camp 4 - Firefly

This was the scuba diving camp where the students had the opportunity to obtain their PADI open water diver qualification.

We had 9 students in total who qualified after completing theory, pool skills and four open water dives in the Indian Ocean. Most were lucky enough to spot a turtle in it's natural habitat and all were witness to the wonders of the vast ecosystem made up of hundreds of different species.

It was also an eye opening experience as they learned about the effects of humans on the environment and their role in ensuring its future protection.
