Welcome to The Winsford Academy's Official page! An 11-16 specialist School based in Winsford, Cheshire. 'Dream, Learn, Trust, Succeed'
The Winsford Academy (simply referred to as 'Winsford Academy' ) in Winsford, Cheshire, England was established in September 2010 following the amalgamation of the two predecessor schools; Verdin High School and Woodford Lodge High School. It is located on the campus of the former Verdin High School on Grange Lane that was established in 1970 and was initially one component of a two-campus school, with history spanning from its original founding as Verdin Technical School in 1895. In September 2013, we moved into a new, £20 million purpose-built school which includes 60 classrooms with flexible learning spaces; a 400-seat theatre in the Performing Arts Centre; Learning Resource Centre; sports facilities; science labs; drama and dance studios; music rehearsal rooms; media suites; art studios and technology workshops. In 3 weeks time it will be the 75th anniversary of VE day. We would like to all celebrate together by having a picnic at 1pm in our own gardens to celebrate this momentous day.
This challenge is to make sausage rolls for your picnic. Watch the video and cook along with us. When this is all over, and it will be, there will be a new question that forms part of the interview when you are applying for college, apprenticeships, university and jobs. The question will be 'What did you do during lockdown?' Think about the answer if you were asked the question today and think about what you could do to enable you to give a great answer.
Have you learned a new skill, have you made a difference to someones life, or have you spent the whole time glued to a screen 😱. Maybe you could learn sign language, you might learn how to animate or code, maybe you might volunteer to help in some way. There are also lots of online courses you could complete that are currently free of charge.
Let us know of any good ideas in the comments and do something different to make yourself stand above everyone else. Be the successful candidate when you go for interview and make us proud 🤩
Please take the time to vote for one of our shortlisted pupils. Go to the website, search for Winsford Academy and look at our entries. The three pupils shortlisted from our submission are Saul Kingsmon, Megan King and Sam Reeves.
Many Thanks. Mrs Lockhart
