All of our children had a fun filled day of coming to nursery dressed as their favourite book character and taking part in book themed activities. Even some children who don’t attend too part. 🌎📚📚

On Tuesday it was Chinese New Year .
Throughout the nursery we did a variety of activities within the nursery starting of with baby room making blossoms trees . The children put a brush into the pink paint and patted it on top of the branches of the tree to make the marks of a blossom tree.
Preschool made their own version of coins with Playdough that they have in the Chinese wallets. They decorated and put their lanterns together which were very colourful .
We all also tried some Chinese food such as vegetable spring rolls and prawn crackers . All of the children had a good try of tasting them YUMMY.

On Tuesday it was pancake day . Throughout the nursery all the children participated in a range of activities to celebrate pancake day.
Our baby room and 2-3 room pretended to be pancake makers by playing with flour ,toy eggs and other utensils to make our pancakes.
In preschool they looked at instructions on how to make their own pancakes . So they pretended to make their own pancakes by mixing the flour and water together to see what consistency pancake mixture has to be .

Over the last couple of weeks all children in nursery have been exploring different textures through play as well as working together as a team.
Our 0-2’s have explored different textures through different climates that animals live. Some children who aren’t as confident with different textures where willing to have a go!.
Our 2-3’s made edible Playdough enabling them to uses their senses such as smell,touch and taste.
Our preschool room worked together as a team to create a bridge for their dinosaurs to go up and down. They also read the colour monster talked about their emotions and then made colour monster gloop.

Our first week back after the Christmas break. Our children joined in with winter themed activities.
Our 0-2’s played with homemade snow. The children used spoons to scoop up the snow and watch it fall.
Our toddlers brought the snow inside and using pipettes in paint to sq**rt onto the snow to make marks.
Our preschool room went outside with buckets and collected the snow ready to play with indoors. They created their own snowmen adding feathers and other art materials to finish. ❄️☃️
These activities develop the children’s fine and gross motor skills as well as working together as a team.

✨ Toddler Room Workshop: Toddler Sense✨

Our toddlers had a wonderful time taking part in an award winning Toddler Sense workshop, a programme designed to support children’s holistic development through purposeful, multi sensory experiences.

The session promoted communication and language, physical development, and personal, social and emotional development as the children enthusiastically sang and danced to Christmas themed music 🎶🎄. They were fully engaged during a festive puppet show and worked together to help guide Santa’s pink sleigh, encouraging turn-taking, attention, and shared experiences.

The children explored a variety of musical instruments, developing their sensory awareness, listening skills, and fine motor control, before dancing with pom-poms to support gross motor skills and coordination. We ended the session by popping bubbles 🫧, promoting visual tracking, hand-eye coordination, and lots of smiles.

A magical and enriching experience supporting learning through play ✨

✨ A Wonderful Learning Experience with ZooLab! ✨

Today our preschool children had an exciting visit from ZooLab, who delivered an engaging, hands on session all about insects, bugs, and small animals. 🕷 🐍 🐸

The children listened beautifully to a story exploring different animals from around the world, supporting their Communication & Language development and encouraging their understanding of the People, Culture & Communities aspect of the EYFS. 📖❤️

They were then given the opportunity to observe, touch, and even hold a range of creatures, including a gerbil, snake, scorpion, frog, millipede, cockroach and a tarantula. These experiences help build children’s confidence, curiosity, and respect for living things, while also promoting Understanding the World and personal, social and emotional development. 🪳🦂 🐍 🕷 🐸

We are incredibly grateful to ZooLab for providing such a rich learning opportunity! Our children were captivated from start to finish! 😊🐍🕷️❤️

This week our toddlers explored a range of winter themed learning experiences designed to build sensory awareness, early maths skills and language development 🐧🐻‍❄️.

The children investigated our flour “snow” tray, making marks with different tools, comparing big and small winter animals 🔍, and identifying key animals like penguins and polar bears. Block play supported counting from 1–5 and early problem solving skills🧱.

We extended this learning outdoors by observing real frost ❄️, helping the children understand seasonal changes and develop early scientific thinking 🌬️✨.

Purposeful, play based learning at its finest! And lots of winter magic too 🤍✨

🌺 Remembrance Day 🌺

Today we came together to honour Remembrance Day, taking time to reflect and learn in meaningful, age appropriate ways. Our children explored the importance of remembering and showing respect through creative experiences across our rooms.

👶 Baby Room
Our youngest children engaged in sensory, hands-on learning, using their handprints to create beautiful red poppies. These will form part of a wreath we will take to the town memorial site, supporting early understanding of community and belonging. ❤️

👧🧒 Toddlers
The toddlers explored poppies through process over product creative play. They used red and black playdough to form poppy shapes and referenced real images to support awareness and visual recognition. The children also enjoyed mark making with red, green, and black paint to create their own unique poppy artwork. 🎨

🧑‍🏫 Pre-School
Our pre-school children developed their fine motor skills and artistic expression by creating poppies using playdough, and through gluing, sticking, and adding red glitter. These open ended activities encouraged discussion about remembrance in a gentle, reflective way. ✨

Today provided a meaningful opportunity for our children to explore history, community, and respect through creativity and play.

🎇🔥 Bonfire Night Celebrations at Nursery!🔥🎇

This week we have loved celebrating Bonfire Night across all rooms, offering creative, sensory and imaginative learning opportunities to support communication, fine motor development and early understanding of the world ✨

👶 Baby Room
Our babies explored fireworks through a sensory paint activity, using a variety of colours and tools to make marks. They added glitter for sparkle, supporting early mark-making and sensory exploration 🎨✨

🧒 Toddlers
Our toddler room discussed fire safety and dressed up as firefighters 👩‍🚒👨‍🚒. The children used foam and water in role play to “put out fires”, supporting imaginative play and gross motor development 🚒💦

They also role played toasting marshmallows around a campfire, created firework playdough using black dough for the night sky and colourful glitter for fireworks, fantastic sensory learning and language development 🌌✨

🎓 Pre-School
Pre-school children created beautiful bonfire pictures using tissue paper, paint and mixed media 🎨. They also drew their own fireworks, showing wonderful fine motor skills and creativity while talking about their experiences of Bonfire Night with friends 💬💥

We have had a magical week filled with creativity, imagination and new vocabulary ⭐

🎃👻 Happy Halloween from all of us at Kiddiecare! 🎃👻

It’s been a spooktacular week filled with exploration, creativity, and plenty of sensory fun across all our rooms!

🧡 Baby Room: Our babies explored paint on a large scale, developing both gross motor skills and creative expression as they used apples to make Halloween prints in shades of orange, yellow and red

🕷️ Toddlers: The toddlers engaged in sensory exploration with some wonderfully messy play! They investigated Halloween themed gloop, using language like “sticky” as they felt the textures and discovered hidden spiders and creepy crawlies, promoting communication and language development alongside early scientific curiosity.

🦇 Pre-School: Our pre-schoolers got creative, designing their very own bats and painting witch hats! As they decorated, we talked about the 2D shapes they could see, such as triangles, supporting their mathematical development through meaningful play.

🎶 Across the nursery, we danced to Halloween music, dressed up in our favourite costumes, and enjoyed some spooky story time together, encouraging self expression, listening skills, and social interaction.

We’ve had a fang-tastic time celebrating Halloween while supporting all areas of the EYFS curriculum through play! 🧙‍♀️🧡
